Letters of Recommendation
I had a question about choosing letters of Rec. Earlier this semester I asked a science professor and a liberal arts professor to write me a letter of rec. At the same time, I also applied for a Pre-Health Commitee letter which I only find out late May or early June if they will write one for me. I recently found out that the committee letter counts as 3 letters and the maximum on the application is 4. How do I go about choosing which other letter of rec goes on the application. I was also... Psychotherapy certifications: The good, the bad, and the grifty
Setting aside 95% of the PESI catalogue for trainings in internal polyvagal complex intergenerational trauma systems therapy that the biased science can't possibly measure, how necessary are psychotherapy certifications for responsible, independent practice? For instance, if I've received training and supervision in both cognitive therapy and mindfulness skills, do I really need to now become certified in mindfulness based cognitive therapy or can I just put those two things together after... Hey there! I'm new to SDN and thrilled to share that I've been accepted into the University of Michigan's Master of Science Program in Physiology for Fall 2024! If there are any other recent acceptees out there, I'd love to connect! Do schools screen for both cGPA and sGPA or just one?
I ended undergrad with a 2.73 sGPA and i’m currently at the end of a 30+ credit postbac and I have brought it up to a 2.93 sGPA. My cGPA is a 3.05. My postbac gpa alone is 3.73 (all science classes). I am wondering if schools will screen only for cGPA or for sGPA as well for the schools that say they screen on MSAR? Other (maybe) relevant information: I am an AA female. I had to work 2-3 jobs to support myself and send money to my family when my parent lost their job to covid during... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Acquiring an LOR from Foreign Language Professor?
Hello, Would it be a viable option to ask my foreign language professor to write a LOR for medical school, since some schools require a humanities/non-science faculty letter? My worry is that they may not know much about the medical school process to write a strong one. Any thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How late can I submit an additional LOR?
I'm in the process of getting letters ready, and so far I've had both my science prof LORs submitted on Interfolio (was most worried about getting these but it was surprisingly easy once I asked). My research PI has also agreed to write one. I was considering asking my work supervisor as well, since I've accumulated a lot of hours at my work study job and I'm on very good terms with him. However, something I'm concerned about is a letter from a non-science professor; he teaches non-science... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
