WAMC/looking for advice on how to improve my app
Hi! I'm currently mid-cycle and haven't heard much from the schools I applied to (1 II from a difficult school to get in OOS, 2 interview holds, 7 pre-II rejections, and 24 schools to hear from). I don't really have any close family/friends in the medical field so would love to hear thoughts on how to improve my application as I start to prepare to reapply next year. GPA total: 3.78 science: 3.82 MCAT: 513 (128/126/131/128) CA resident Activities Clinical Volunteering... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Need Advice: Have to Reapply to Pharmacy School
Long story shot, I left Pharmacy school to complete a Masters degree but I'd like to return. My Masters was in a science field and, I believe, would enhance my experience as a Pharmacist. The Masters is designed to help people apply to Medical school, which I did, but I was unsuccessful. I will have to complete some paperwork and explain why I want to return to Pharmacy school and a committee will decide. How do I convey I'm still interested in Pharmacy practice (which I obviously am)... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC 3.53/503 Looking for advice on my path
Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to graduate from my college this upcoming spring and was hoping for some advice on where to apply and my chances in general. I only need to take 5 science credits to graduate so my GPA is pretty set in at this point. I've never really had a preference between MD or DO, I just want to be able to serve patients as best I can GPA = 3.53c, 3.36sgpa MCAT = 503, (122/129/124/128). I was debating retaking this to fix my chem section but my free... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

For premeds who earned a very high science GPA, what did you do?
I have a below average science GPA, 3.5-3.6. I have a few other prereqs to take and need to do significantly better than how I have performed in the past. For people who have done really well in science classes, what did you do? Especially if you're the "strong in humanities" type but absolutely pathetic at STEM. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

If you don't get in your first try, where to next?
I applied this cycle a bit last minute and had 2 LORs fall through so I had to apply with 3 only, I have 3 schools left to hear back from after some rejections but did not get reviews out of the rejections so I'm looking for direction on where to aim for next just in case. 3.7 cumulative GPA 3.6ish vmcas calculated 1000+ ER/GP and still building on as my current job BS in equine science, will be a new grad by next cycle 200+ research 400+ volunteer 2000+ extracurricular with over 1500... Procedure for adding LOR mid-cycle
Hello, What is the procedure for adding a new LOR during the middle of the cycle? I was planning to send it to the schools that have not yet rejected me, including some at which I have interviewed at/may be on a waitlist. The letter is from the graduate medical science M.S program I am currently completing. Do I simply add it on AMCAS and select the schools to send it to? Or do I need to email each individual school to ensure they have processed and added it to my file? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How holistic are application reviews with GPA?
I'm a junior in a very highly academic and challenging T20 undergrad school. I have a 3.5 overall GPA after 2 years and it's going up, but I took most of the DPT pre requisite math and science classes already with a few Cs and will have just under a 3.0 math/sci GPA. Depending on the DPT program, it looks like my prerequisite GPA will also hover right at or below 3.0. I was pre-med for a bit before deciding that I am really focused on PT and know med schools don't factor in the difficulty... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on how to collect recommendations from professors
Hi, I’m a recent UVA grad of ‘23 back in May and am currently taking two gap years to save up money + strengthen my application due to my low sGPA (~2.9) and GPA of (3.2). I’m not gonna lie, I feel like one of my biggest regrets was not taking advantage during the semester to connect with my science-focused professors (such as being a TA). I've had my plate full with extracurriculars, job, and handling some pretty brutal stuff going on at home. I have a few professors on my mind to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Basic vs. Clinical Research
I'm a bit torn and thought others may have some advice. I am unsure whether I want to pursue basic science or clinical research during school. I think I'd be more interested in hands-on basic science like research, and I think it'd be an interesting skill set to acquire, but I'm afraid I may not accomplish much during M1/M2. I'd love to hear thoughts from others if you've considered the same issue. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Vcom mabs 2024-2025
Hello friends! I don’t think a thread has been started yet so here we go. I applied to the MABS program around August 30th. Stats: GPA: 3.9 (3.8 science) MCAT: 504 —> 501 (2nd attempt) Praying I get in because I’m honestly so worn out by medical school admissions. Good luck to all of you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)
