Bipolar I and med school
I was recently diagnosed with bipolar I disorder in June 2022. I was pre-med in undergrad (BA Biochemistry) and have a pre-med postbacc under my belt (MS in Biomedical Science). I am not the typical pre-med; non-traditional student 31 YO. I check ALL of the boxes except MCAT (two <50% attempts). Got the grades, research, volunteering, patient care experience, everything. Didn't do a typical postabacc either, it was at an academic med center/med school and we took the MS 1 curriculum for our... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying to medical school without recommended prerequisites or science background. Only MCAT and business degrees.
Since many medical schools have gotten rid of REQUIRED prerequisites - has anyone applied to medical school without taking the “recommended” science courses? As in, graduated with a non-science degree, did NOT take traditional pre-med courses, took the MCAT, and applied? Curious of anyone’s experience if you have taken this route. Or if you know someone who took this route. My background (reason for asking): Former USAF Flight Medic (nationally certified) of almost 7 years, with 300+... Non-science letter of recommendation
Hello, My professor (from a non-science arts class) asked me to write my own letter of recommendation, but I am unsure of how to even start and what to include in the letter. His exact response to my recommendation letter request was "Yes, I would be glad to. Please write two or so paragraphs on yourself in the third person" Any insight into what I should be writing about would be greatly appreciated. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Classes that are fun vs classes that are "traditional"
Hi, just wanted some quick thoughts on science electives. My sGPA is around 3.8, so this isn't really a "prove that you can handle hard classes" situation. I have done all of my science classes as a post-bacc over the past couple years, having graduated in a liberal arts field 10 years ago. This spring I will be finishing up the last of my required classes and two more electives would get me a certificate which I plan on in Fall 24 if I don't get admitted in the current cycle. I have the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC - lowish GPA, c/o 2028/2029
Hello! I am a current applicant for the 2028 cycle but received a 4th rejection this morning. I am starting to get worried and gear up for reapplying.
