Photocatalytic removal of 17 β-estradiol from water using a novel bimetallic NiCu/Nb < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 5 < /sub > catalyst
In this study, a novel photocatalyst based on niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) functionalized with nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) was synthesized for E2 removal. The NiCu/Nb2O5 photocatalyst was prepared using a facile wet impregnation method and characterized by various techniques. The incorporation of Ni and Cu into Nb2O5 reduced the band gap energy from 3.3 to 2.8 eV, enabling efficient utilization of visible light. Moreover, NiCu/Nb2O5 exhibited the highest E2 removal efficiency (82%) under UV-A-assisted conditions at a concentration of 1.5 g L-1. The reaction kinetics were found to follow a second-order model with a rate consta...

A Mouse Model to Investigate the Impact of Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy with Estradiol on Reproduction
Adv Biol (Weinh). 2023 Sep 8:e2300126. doi: 10.1002/adbi.202300126. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) can help transgender and/or gender diverse (TGD) individuals achieve emobidment goals that align with their transition needs. Clinical evidence from estradiol (E)-GAHT patients indicate widespread changes in tissues sensitive to E and testosterone (T), particularly in the reproductive system. Notably, E-GAHTs effects on hormones and reproduction vary greatly between patients. With the goal of informing clinical research and practice for TGD individuals taking E, this study examines intac...

Electroacupuncture stimulating Zhongji (CV3), Guanyuan (CV4), and bilateral Dahe (KI12) attenuates inflammation in rats with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis induced by estradiol through inhibiting toll-like receptor 4 pathway
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggested that EA could relieve pelvic pain and attenuate prostatic inflammation in estradiol-induced CNP rats. The underlying mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.PMID:37679984 | PMC:PMC10465839 | DOI:10.19852/j.cnki.jtcm.20230608.001
