The dose-dependent effect of estrogen on bone mineral density in trans girls
CONCLUSION: Higher estrogen dosage is associated with a greater increase in lumbar spine BMD Z-scores. Increasing dosage up to 2mg estradiol is insufficient to optimize BMD and approximately 4 mg may be required for adequate serum concentrations.PMID:37590955 | DOI:10.1093/ejendo/lvad116

Genome-wide Epigenetic Study of Chronic Rhinosinusitis Tissues Reveals Dysregulated Inflammatory, Immunologic and Remodeling Pathways
CONCLUSIONS: Differential patterns of methylation were identified between controls and CRS, CRSwNP, and CRSsNP. Epigenetic, environmentally-induced changes related to novel, inflammatory, immunologic, and remodeling pathways appear to affect epithelial integrity, cell proliferation, homeostasis, vascular permeability, and other yet uncharacterized pathways and genes.PMID:37584357 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231193526

Sensitive detection of 17 β-estradiol at a picomolar level using an aptamer-assisted liquid crystal-based optical sensor
Anal Bioanal Chem. 2023 Aug 15. doi: 10.1007/s00216-023-04907-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA liquid crystal (LC)-based aptasensor was developed that can detect 17β-estradiol (E2) at the picomolar level. This aptasensor is based on competitive reactions of the aptamer that interacts with cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and E2 at the aqueous/LC interface. The long alkyl chain of CTAB anchored the 4-cyano-4'-pentylbiphenyl (5CB) to a homeotropic state and controls the local anchoring depending on the extent of electrostatic interaction with the aptamer. Upon addition of the aptamer solution to the CTAB-saturated ...
