The Effects of Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonists on Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients With End ‐Stage Renal Disease and Heart Failure
ConclusionsIn patients undergoing regular dialysis who are diagnosed with heart failure, the use of MRAs is associated with lower risks of all-cause mortality and CV death. The benefits of MRA treatment in heart failure may persist in patients with ESRD. Further investigations through randomized controlled trials are needed to assess the efficacy and safety of MRAs in this high-risk population.This article is protected by copyright. Medicare Bundled Payment Policy on Anemia Care, Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events, and Mortality among Adults Undergoing Hemodialysis
CONCLUSIONS: The Medicare reimbursement policy and Food and Drug Administration-recommended erythropoietin-stimulating agent dosing changes were associated with lower erythropoietin-stimulating agent use and lower hemoglobin levels. These changes in anemia care were associated with lower risks of major adverse cardiovascular event, stroke, mortality, and heart failure but higher risk of acute myocardial infarction among adults receiving hemodialysis.PMID:35589388 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.14361121

Extent of mural thrombus is not associated with increased 5-year mortality following elective AAA repair
CONCLUSIONS: In our experience, the extent of mural thrombus in AAA does not influence long-term survival after elective repair. AAA repair may provide protection against circulating components of mural thrombus which have the potential to promote atherosclerotic-related adverse events. Although renin-angiotensin system (RAS) blockade has been shown to reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the general population and high-risk subjects, their protective effect in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) patients under dialysis was still unknown. ConclusionsMajor vascular complications, connective tissue disease and depression are associated with considerably worse health ‐related quality of life. These health utility estimates can facilitate health economic evaluations to determine cost‐effective strategies for diabetes management.

Effectiveness and Safety of Direct Oral Anticoagulants in an Asian Population with Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Dialysis: A Population-Based Cohort Study and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionsDOACs did not provide benefit over warfarin regarding effectiveness and safety in AF patients undergoing dialysis. The use of OAC was not associated with a lower risk of IS/SE in ESRD AF patients when compared to those without OAC use.

Atrial fibrillation and associated outcomes in patients with peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis: a 14-year nationwide population-based study.
CONCLUSION: In patients with ESRD undergoing dialysis, PD had lowered risks of new onset of AF compared to HD. Subsequently, these AF patients in PD group had comparable incidence of ischemic stroke but decreased incidence of hemorrhagic stroke compared to AF patients in HD group. PD could be the most suitable modality in patients at risk for the onset of AF.

Renal transplantation delays major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) in patients with end-stage renal disease: A nationwide population-based study
ConclusionRT seemed not to reduce the risk of MACEs directly, but it could have dramatically delayed MACEs and stroke episodes in the ESRD patients. Furthermore, a lower mortality rate was observed in the ESRD patients who received RT than in those undergoing chronic dialysis. Further in-depth investigation is necessary to identify other protective factors against MACEs or stroke in ESRD.
