Effect of Adherence to Oral Anticoagulants on Risk of Stroke and Major Bleeding Among Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology
Conclusions Adherence to anticoagulation is poor in practice and may be modestly improved with NOACs. Adherence to therapy appears to be most important in patients with CHA2DS2-VASc score ≥2, whereas the benefits of anticoagulation may not outweigh the harms in patients with CHA2DS2-VASc score 0 or 1.

Conclusions: A majority of AF patients presenting with AIS are not on guideline recommended anticoagulation or are not therapeutic on their anticoagulation. Even when strokes occurred on therapeutic warfarin or a NOAC, the strokes were less severe. These findings highlight the huge opportunities to further improve proper use of oral anticoagulants in eligible AF patients.

Total and specific fruit and vegetable consumption and risk of stroke: A prospective study
Conclusion: This study shows an inverse association of fruit and vegetable consumption with stroke risk. Particularly consumption of apples and pears and green leafy vegetables was inversely associated with stroke.Highlights: ► Fruit and vegetables is a heterogeneous food group with different content of nutrients. ► It remains unclear which fruit and vegetable subgroups that are most protective against stroke. ► We examined the relation between fruit and vegetable consumption and stroke risk. ► Particularly consumption of apples/pears and green leafy vegetables was inversely associated with stroke.

These data will be used to better understand optimal strategies to care for these complex but increasingly common emergent real world clinical challenges.

Insufficient Warfarin Therapy Is Associated With Higher Severity of Stroke Than No Anticoagulation in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation and Acute Anterior-Circulation Stroke.

Altered Properties of Neurons and Astrocytes and the Effects of Food Components in Stroke-Prone Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats
In this study, we obtained information using PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science. We searched for the functions of neurons and astrocytes and the molecular mechanism of ischemic stroke induction. We summarized the recent literature on the underlying mechanisms of stroke onset in SHRSP and the alleviating effects of typical food-derived phytochemical components. Early Versus Delayed Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulant Therapy After Acute Ischemic Stroke in Atrial Fibrillation (TIMING): A Registry-Based Randomized Controlled Noninferiority Study
CONCLUSIONS: Early initiation was noninferior to delayed start of NOAC after acute ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation.
