Responder analysis confirms results of a stroke transitional care trial but provides more interpretable results
Interpreting between-group differences in patient-reported outcome measures can be challenging. Responder analyses, which compare the proportions of patients who achieve a meaningful clinical change, represent a more interpretable approach. We conducted a secondary responder analysis of the Michigan Stroke Transitions Trial (MISTT).

Urinary 20-HETE: A prospective Non-Invasive prognostic and diagnostic marker for diabetic kidney disease
CONCLUSION: Taken together, our results suggest that urinary 20-HETE levels can potentially be used as non-invasive diagnostic and prognostic markers for DKD.PMID:36725183 | DOI:10.1016/j.jare.2022.04.013

Vitamin D intake and all-cause and cause-specific mortality in Japanese men and women: the Japan Public Health Center-based prospective study
AbstractWhile higher circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations have been reported to be associated with decreased risk of all-cause mortality, evidence on dietary vitamin D intake is limited and inconsistent. We investigated whether vitamin D intake is associated with all-cause and cause-specific mortality among Japanese adults. Participants were 42,992 men and 50,693 women who responded to the second survey of the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study (1995 –1998) and who were followed up for mortality through 2018. Dietary intake was ascertained using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Hazard r...

Intravenous thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke after antagonization of unfractionated heparin with protamine: case series and systematic review of literature
CONCLUSION: IVT after heparin antagonization with protamine seems to be safe and, prospectively, may extend the number of AIS patients who can benefit from reperfusion treatment using IVT. Further prospective registry trials would be helpful to further investigate the clinical applicability of heparin antagonization.PMID:36710724 | PMC:PMC9880584 | DOI:10.1177/17562864221149249

From self-care behaviours to cardiometabolic risks prevention for the health of farmers: Nursing implications
CONCLUSION: The farmers in this study had a high prevalence of cardiometabolic risks, a high probability of stroke, inadequate number of remaining teeth and poor oral hygiene behaviours. These findings can provide evidence to develop health promotion programmes for farmers.IMPACT: This study demonstrates the health needs of farmers. We strongly recommend that community nurses empower farmers to engage in self-care behaviours through tailored health promotion programmes. For instance, by discussing cardiometabolic risk prevention from the farmers' perspectives to improve their health literacy.PMID:36695405 | DOI:10.1111/jan.15571

Agreement between self-reported diseases from health surveys and national health registry data: a Danish nationwide study
Conclusion Overall, self-reported data were accurate in identifying individuals without the specific disease (ie, specificity and NPV). However, sensitivity, PPV and kappa varied greatly between diseases. These findings should be considered when interpreting similar results from surveys.

Facteurs associ és au délai d'accès à la thrombectomie mécanique dans la prise en charge des accidents vasculaires cérébraux ischémiques en Gironde, France, 2017-2018
CONCLUSIONS: The DS pathway can be shortened by generalizing access to cerebral imaging in LHCs. Optimizing pre-admission orientation toward MT is a major issue in LVOS management.PMID:36563615 | DOI:10.1016/j.respe.2022.10.009
