Combined Arterial Hypertension and Ischemic Stroke Exaggerate Anesthesia-Related Hypotension and Cerebral Oxygenation Deficits: A Preclinical Study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings are the first demonstration that ischemic stroke per se increases the severity of IOH, particularly when combined with a prior history of hypertension; this combination appears to compromise penumbral perfusion.PMID:36730724 | DOI:10.1213/ANE.0000000000006263

Cognitive function deterioration after cardiopulmonary bypass: Can intraoperative optimal cerebral regional tissue oxygen saturation predict postoperative cognitive function?
Neurologic complications from cardiac surgeries with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) affect further outcomes, including length of hospital stay, survival, health care costs, and quality of life. Stroke is the most obvious manifestation among neurologic complications, reported in 1% –3% of cases1. Although not as clinically significant as stroke, cognitive impairment occurs in about 50% of patients2 and carries important social and financial implications3.

Intraoperative blood product transfusion in pediatric cardiac surgery patients: a retrospective review of adverse outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Transfusion of blood products following cardiopulmonary bypass is associated with postoperative adverse outcomes.
