A case with prolonged headache after COVID-19 vaccination and later developed Bell's palsy
CONCLUSION: Reactivation of latent herpes virus has been suggested as one of the possible mechanisms underlying the phenomenon, but the causal pathophysiology related to the symptom needs further validation. Moreover, in the event of facial palsy post-vaccination, alternative diagnoses such as Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), Ramsey-Hunt syndrome, Lyme disease, trauma, central nervous system infection (CNS) infection, or stroke should also be considered.PMID:37198509

The Possible Role of COVID-19 in the Triggering of Underlying Mitochondrial Dysfunction in MELAS Syndrome, A Brief Report of three cases
CONCLUSION: Although MELAS is not a prevalent condition, the recent increase in the number of these patients in our center might indicate the potential role of COVID-19 in triggering the silent pre- existing mitochondrial dysfunction in these patients.PMID:37198511

Diagnostic potential of routine brain MRI and high-resolution, multi-contrast vessel wall imaging in the detection of internal carotid artery dissection
Conclusion: The combination of brain MRI and clinical information could be used for the diagnosis of CAD and hrVWI should be sought for uncertain cases.

Dynamic changes of the direction and angle of radiographic ocular lateral deviation in patients with lateropulsion after stroke onset
ConclusionSerial changes in rOLD findings after stroke onset are different according to the responsible lesion. The direction of rOLD in most patients is in accordance with vertical perception after the acute stage of stroke.

Case report: Medulla oblongata and cervical cord reperfusion injury after intracranial vertebral artery angioplasty and stenting
ConclusionConcomitant reperfusion injury in the medulla oblongata and cervical cord secondary to vertebral artery angioplasty and stenting is extremely rare. However, this potentially devastating complication requires early recognition and prompt treatment. Maintaining the antegrade flow during vertebral artery endovascular treatment is a precaution against reperfusion injury.

Clinical features of ischemic stroke in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation combined with intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis
ConclusionNVAF with ICAS ischemic stroke is more likely to occur in older patients. Infarctions occurred mainly in the right cerebral hemisphere. Neurological deficits in NVAF are more severe than those in NVAF combined with ICAS and in simple ICAS ischemic strokes. HsCRP, LEVF, andNTpro-BNP seem to be closely associated with NVAF+ICAS ischemic stroke.

The Effect of Swallowing Action Observation Therapy on Resting fMRI in Stroke Patients with Dysphagia
CONCLUSION: Action observation therapy can affect the excitability of certain brain regions. The changes in brain function brought about by this treatment may help to further understand the potential mechanism of network remodeling of swallowing function.PMID:37124873 | PMC:PMC10147521 | DOI:10.1155/2023/2382980
