Blood pressure trajectory of inpatient stroke rehabilitation patients from the Determining Optimal Post-Stroke Exercise (DOSE) trial over the first 12 months post-stroke
ConclusionBlood pressure increased after inpatient rehabilitation over the first 12 months post-stroke, especially among those with a history of hypertension. The 4-week aerobic gait training intervention did not influence this trajectory.

Predictors of failure of early neurological improvement in early time window following endovascular thrombectomy: a multi-center study
ConclusionDiabetes mellitus history, pre-stroke mRS, longer last known well-to-puncture time, lack of modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction = 3, and the number of mechanical thrombectomy passes are the predictors of FENI. Future large-scale studies are required to validate these findings.

Thrombectomy with and without computed tomography perfusion imaging for large-vessel occlusion stroke in the extended time window: a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials
ConclusionThese findings suggest that the choice of NCCT ± CTA (without CTP) for the assessment of mechanical thrombectomy within 6–24 h after LVO in the anterior circulation is not significantly different from CTP; instead, the choice of NCCT ± CTA significantly reduces the time from onset to arterial puncture.

Skin capillary amylin deposition resembles brain amylin vasculopathy in rats
Human amylin is a 37 amino-acid pancreatic peptide that forms neuro-toxic aggregates that deposit in the endothelium of brain capillaries of patients with diabetes, potentially contributing to cerebral small vessel ischemic injury. Pathogenic amylin also deposits in the capillary endothelium in other organs, including the skin. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that skin capillary amylin deposition correlates with cerebral small vessel amylin deposition, potentially providing a clinically useful marker of cerebral amylin deposition.

Do not biopsy the MELAS brain
We read with interest the article by Hass et al. on a 67-year-old female with mitochondrial encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episode (MELAS) syndrome due to the variant m.3243A > G with a heteroplasmy rate of 10% in blood, which was initially incorrectly identified as progressive supra-nuclear palsy (PSP) [1]. The mtDNA variant manifested itself phenotypically with cognitive impairment, headache, hypoacusis, gait disturbance falls, and diabetes [1]. Her son also suffered from “stroke”, hypoacusis, and seizures [1].
