Comparison of serum lipoprotein(a) levels in young and middle-aged patients presenting for the first time with ST-elevation myocardial infarction: a single-centre study
CONCLUSION: Lp(a) level was found to be a higher and a possible independent risk factor in young patients who presented with STEMI for the first time, compared to the middle-aged patient group. Lp(a) is a highly atherogenic molecule and it has been associated with stroke, heart failure, aortic stenosis, as well as coronary artery disease. Measurement of Lp(a) levels may be recommended in young patients with high cardiovascular risk.PMID:37656600 | DOI:10.5830/CVJA-2023-038

Clinical characteristics and intracranial arterial lesions of non-young adult ischemic stroke patients with RNF213 p.R4810K variant
CONCLUSIONS: Non-young adult stroke patients with RNF213 p.R4810K are more likely to have ICASO in arterial segments commonly affected in MMD. The etiology of their ICASO exhibited diverse mechanisms, possibly depending on vascular risk and other environmental factors.PMID:37657303 | DOI:10.1016/j.jns.2023.120775

Carotid total plaque area as an independent predictor of short-term subclinical polyvascular atherosclerosis progression and major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events
CONCLUSION: In patients from 40 to 64 years of age with various cardiovascular risks, among the indicators of the cPB, only an increase in cTPA > 42.0 mm2 was shown to be independently associated with an increase in the relative risk (RR) of progression of subclinical polyvascular atherosclerosis by 2.38 (1.08-5.25) times, as well as with the development of MACCE by 3.10 (1.54-6.26) times.PMID:37655749 | DOI:10.1177/17539447231194861

Prevalence of hs-CRP among Indians with hypertension
Bioinformation. 2022 Oct 31;18(10):1041-1043. doi: 10.6026/973206300181041. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTThe prevalence of hypertension in the early twentieth century varied in India, ranging from 2-15% in Urban India and 2-8% in Rural India. In the inter heart and inter stroke study, hypertension accounted for 17.9% and 34.6% of population attributable risk for coronary artery disease and stroke respectively. CRP appears in serum in response to a variety of inflammatory stimuli .Raised level of hs-CRP is seen with increasing with age, during an infection, inflammation, coronary artery diseases, obesity, sepsis, smoking and va...

Early Aortic Valve Replacement in Symptomatic Normal-Flow, Low-Gradient Severe Aortic Stenosis: A Propensity Score-Matched Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: An early AVR strategy may be beneficial in reducing the risk of a composite outcome of death or hospitalization for HF in symptomatic patients with NFLG severe AS. Future randomized studies are required to validate and confirm our findings.PMID:37653715 | DOI:10.4070/kcj.2023.0022
