Impact of Acute Lumbar Disk Herniation on Sexual Function in Male Patients
CONCLUSIONS: LDH resulted in sexual dysfunction in up to 77% of patients, which significantly improved after surgery. By 6 weeks, the majority had resumed sexual activity without undue discomfort. Rate of torque development of paretic lower limb is an excellent predictor of walking speed in chronic stroke individuals
Peak torque and rate of torque development from knee extensors are adequate predictors of walking speed in stroke survivors. Adjusting predictive models for assistive device use and lower limb motor function increases predictive capacity. These findings may have repercussions for assessing chronic stroke individuals and developing treatment strategies.

Gait speed and spasticity are independently associated with estimated failure load in the distal tibia after stroke: an HR-pQCT study
ConclusionThe paretic distal tibia showed more compromised vBMD, cortical area, cortical thickness, and estimated failure load than the non-paretic tibia. Gait speed and spasticity were independently associated with estimated failure load. As treatment programs focusing on these potentially modifiable stroke-related impairments are feasible to administer, future studies are needed to determine the efficacy of such intervention strategies for improving bone strength in individuals with chronic stroke.
