Efficacy and Safety of Novel Oral Anticoagulants in Patients with Cervical Artery Dissections
We report on the use, safety, and efficacy of NOACs in the treatment of CAD. Methods: We retrospectively identified patients diagnosed with CAD at a single academic center between January 2010 and August 2013. Patients were categorized by their antithrombotic treatment at hospital discharge with a NOAC (dabigatran, rivaroxaban, or apixaban), traditional anticoagulant (AC: warfarin or treatment dose low-molecular weight heparin), or antiplatelet agent (AP: aspirin, clopidogrel, or aspirin/extended-release dypyridamole). Postoperative dissection of the vertebral artery in two steps.
We report a case revealed by a tegmento-thalamic stroke after an abdominal second surgical look. The interest of this observation is related to a particular evolution in two steps separated by a 2-month-interval and an intercurrent cervical manipulation. Spontaneous dissection of the bilateral internal carotid and vertebral arteries: A rationale for endovascular management
Spontaneous cervical-artery-dissection (sCAD) is a common cause of stroke in young patients. The incidence of concurrent sCAD of more than one neck artery ranges between 10 and 28% [1]. Multi-vessel sCAD is associated with a higher risk of intracranial hemorrhage as well as a higher risk of recurrent stroke or TIA [1]. Postpartum CAD accounts for 6% of spontaneous CAD in women under 50years of age [2]. Medical management is the primary treatment approach, while the role of endovascular intervention remains unclear.

Articles Antiplatelet treatment compared with anticoagulation treatment for cervical artery dissection (CADISS): a randomised trial
We found no difference in efficacy of antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs at preventing stroke and death in patients with symptomatic carotid and vertebral artery dissection but stroke was rare in both groups, and much rarer than reported in some observational studies. Diagnosis of dissection was not confirmed after review in many cases, suggesting that radiographic criteria are not always correctly applied in routine clinical practice.

Review Epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of intracranial artery dissection
Spontaneous intracranial artery dissection is an uncommon and probably underdiagnosed cause of stroke that is defined by the occurrence of a haematoma in the wall of an intracranial artery. Patients can present with headache, ischaemic stroke, subarachnoid haemorrhage, or symptoms associated with mass effect, mostly on the brainstem. Although intracranial artery dissection is less common than cervical artery dissection in adults of European ethnic origin, intracranial artery dissection is reportedly more common in children and in Asian populations.

Cervical arterial dissection: an overview and implications for manipulative therapy practice
.Cervical arterial dissection (CAD) is a common cause of stroke in young people under 55years. It can occur spontaneously or subsequent to minor trauma or infection. The incidence is difficult to determine accurately as not all CAD progress to stroke. CAD is the most catastrophic adverse event associated with cervical manipulative therapy but it is rare. Early features of CAD can mimic a painful musculoskeletal presentation and a patient may present for treatment of neck pain and headache with a dissection in progress.

Safety and efficiency of ultrasound-guided intermediate cervical plexus block for carotid surgery
Conclusions The present work reports our first 50 cases of intermediate CPB using ultrasound guidance. The results underline that this technique is easy to perform, safe and reliable, provided good surgical conditions with continuous intraoperative neurologic monitoring and stable haemodynamics are respected.

Cervical Artery Dissections: A Review
Cervical artery dissection (CeAD) is an infrequent, yet potentially devastating, cause of stroke. While uncommon, CeAD is important for emergency physicians to quickly diagnose and treat because of the potential for cerebral ischemia, stroke, blindness, or death. To our knowledge, no review articles in the emergency medicine literature have been published on CeAD. A literature search of MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, and other major abstracts in the English language was performed for the following terms: cervical artery, vertebral artery, and carotid artery dissection.

“Phacing” a New Cause of Carotid Artery Dissection
Conclusions: Noteworthy, among vascular abnormalities of PHACE, CADs have never been reported before. Our 2 cases suggest that CAD is an underecognized cerebrovascular manifestation of PHACE and it should be searched for in these patients.
