Cardiovascular and respiratory effects of carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum in the domestic rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus).
In conclusion, pneumoperitoneum with carbon dioxide causes an increase in ETCO2, PaCO2, and PIP, whereas cardiac output and CI decrease. These cardiorespiratory changes should be considered when determining the optimal IAP for laparoscopic procedures in rabbits. PMID: 32255905 [PubMed - in process]

Goal-Directed vs Traditional Approach to Intraoperative Fluid Therapy during Open Major Bowel Surgery: Is There a Difference?
Conclusions: Use of goal-directed fluid management, either with FloTrac or pleth variability index results in a lower volume infusion and lower net fluid balance. Unsedated Outpatient Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy in Stroke Patients: Is It Feasible and Safe?
This study sought to determine the feasibility and safety of outpatient, unsedated PEG implementation in stroke patients. This retrospective cohort study involved stroke victims who underwent unsedated outpatient PEG insertion from 2014 to 2017 at our Surgical Endoscopy Unit. Patients were given pharyngeal anesthesia with lidocaine 10% spray, while the PEG tube was placed under local anesthesia. Increased suicide risk among patients oophorectomized following benign conditions and its association with comorbidities.
Conclusion: A significant increase in suicide rate among oophorectomized women aged 20-49 years was found. The decision to perform oophorectomy should be made cautiously, especially in patients with hypertension, COPD, chronic liver disease and cirrhosis or anxiety disorder. Internal Carotid Artery Blood Flow Response to Anesthesia, Pneumoperitoneum, and Head-up Tilt during Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
Conclusions During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, internal carotid artery blood flow declined with anesthesia and with pneumoperitoneum, in close association with reductions in cardiac index and MAP. Head-up tilt caused no further reduction. Cardiac output independently affects human cerebral blood flow.

Conclusions: Limited blunt dissection by a single stroke of biaxillary tunneling is a simple method, which significantly reduces ecchymosis formation and is time-efficient. This method can be used in routine practice and is feasible for beginner surgeons.

Efficacy and Safety of Prothrombin Complex Concentrate (PCC) for Direct Oral Anticoagulant Reversal: A Single Institutional Experience
ConclusionIn this cohort, 80% of pts demonstrated clinical stability/improvement of hemorrhage. All pts were able to undergo surgical procedures; however 17% required additional FFP to achieve hemostasis. Thromboembolism occurred in 12% of patients.
