Role of Comorbidities as Limiting Factors to the Effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen in Diabetic Foot Patients: A Retrospective Analysis
Conclusions Diabetic foot patients with histories of coronary artery diseases or stroke and non-proliferative or proliferative retinopathy might resist HBOT. PAD at the femoral arterial level has been shown to have a significant negative effect on HBOT outcomes that should be first considered for surgery. In contrast, PAD below the knee does not seem to be an obstacle to the efficacy of HBOT.

Improvement of memory impairments in poststroke patients by hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Objective: Several recent studies have shown that hyperbaric oxygen (HBO₂) therapy carry cognitive and motor therapeutic effects for patients with acquired brain injuries. The goal of this study was to address the specific effects of HBO₂ on memory impairments after stroke at late chronic stages. CONCLUSIONS: We are very uncertain about the effects of higher versus lower fraction of inspired oxygen or targets of arterial oxygenation for adults admitted to the ICU on all-cause mortality, serious adverse events, and lung injuries at the time point closest to three months due to very low-certainty evidence. Neurobiological insight into hyperbaric hyperoxia
ConclusionsThe present study firstly confirmed the rCBF distribution increase during HBO in sensory‐motor and visual cortices and it showed for the first time a higher perfusion tracer distribution in areas encompassed in dorsal attention system and in default mode network. These findings unfold both the externally directed cognition performance improvement related to the HBO and the internally directed cognition states during resting state conditions, suggesting possible beneficial effects in TBI and stroke patients.This article is protected by copyright. A prospective trial of hyperbaric oxygen for chronic sequelae after brain injury (HYBOBI).
CONCLUSIONS: Conducting an HBO2 clinical trial in this population was feasible. Although many participants reported improvement, the lack of concurrent controls limits the strength of inferences from this trial, especially considering lack of change in standardized testing. The clinical relevance of neuroimaging changes is unknown. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy fails to reduce hydrocephalus formation following subarachnoid hemorrhage in rats
Conclusion Multiple HBO therapy does not ameliorate hydrocephalus formation in a rat model of SAH; however, HBO tendentially improved the neurological functions and spatial learning and memory abilities in rats with hydrocephalus.
