Pharmacokinetics, Mass Balance, Tissue Distribution, and Metabolism of 3HCatalpol in Rats: the Main Bioactive Component of Rehmannia glutinosa for the Treatment of Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Catalpol was excreted mainly through the urine. The drug-related substances were primarily concentrated in the stomach, large intestine, bladder, and kidney. Only the parent drug was detected in the plasma and urine, and M1 and M2 were detected in the feces. We speculate that the metabolism of catalpol in rats was mainly mediated by the intestinal flora, resulting in an aglycone-containing hemiacetal hydroxyl structure.PMID:37409552 | DOI:10.2174/1389200224666230705142901

Hyperoside ameliorates cerebral ischaemic-reperfusion injury by opening the TRPV4 channel < em > in  vivo < /em > through the IP < sub > 3 < /sub > -PKC signalling pathway
CONCLUSIONS: Although Hyp showed protective effect in ischaemic stroke, more clinical trial certification is needed due to the difference between animals and humans.PMID:37410551 | DOI:10.1080/13880209.2023.2228379

Cannabinoids: Emerging sleep modulator
Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 Jul 3;165:115102. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.115102. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSleep is an essential biological phase of our daily life cycle and is necessary for maintaining homeostasis, alertness, metabolism, cognition, and other key functions across the animal kingdom. Dysfunctional sleep leads to deleterious effects on health, mood, and cognition, including memory deficits and an increased risk of diabetes, stroke, and neurological disorders. Sleep is regulated by several brain neuronal circuits, neuromodulators, and neurotransmitters, where cannabinoids have been increasingly found to pla...

Malnutrition risk in hospitalized patients measured with Nutrition Risk Screening 2002 tool and its association with in-hospital mortality
CONCLUSIONS: AMR revealed that NRS-2002 is positive in approximately half of the hospitalized patients, which is associated with in-hospital mortality independent of the underlying diseases. NT is related to weight gain and increased serum albumin.PMID:37401318 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32820

Association of nutritional indices and prognosis of stroke patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Assessing malnutrition in stroke patients at the time of hospital admission using any of the three nutritional indices is useful due to the observed association of malnutrition with survival and functional outcomes. However, due to a limited number of studies, there is a need for large prospective studies to validate the findings observed in this meta-analysis.PMID:37401317 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32819

Risk of acute stroke in patients with retinal artery occlusion: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The meta-analysis demonstrated that people with RAO are significantly more likely to get an acute stroke than patients without RAO. In addition, patients with RAO are substantially more likely than those without RAO to develop an acute stroke following an occlusion episode, especially if they are under 75 years old. However, given that only a small number of the studies in our review did not show a clear correlation between the two, we believe more research is required to conclusively link RAO and the prevalence of acute stroke.PMID:37401301 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32803

Hemorrhagic risk factors after rt PA thrombolysis in acute cerebral infarction
CONCLUSIONS: The establishment of a prediction model based on the risk factors of HT after rt-PA thrombolysis had a good predictive value in patients with ACI. This model was helpful in guiding clinical judgment and improving the safety of intravenous thrombolysis. Early identification of symptomatic bleeding risk factors provided a reference for clinical treatment and prognostic measures of patients with ACI.PMID:37401290 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32791

Chronic myeloid leukemia, tyrosine kinase inhibitors and cardiovascular system
CONCLUSIONS: The current CML treatment target is a cure that leads to normal age and gender-adjusted survival with a "normal" quality of life. Cardiovascular disorders are one of the major obstacles to reaching this target in CML patients. The treatment choices for CML patients must include a cardiovascular perspective.PMID:37401285 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32786

The appropriateness of the use of statins for the secondary and primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease: a cross-sectional study from Jordan
CONCLUSIONS: The use of statins was not in concordance with the guidelines. Many of the patients surveyed were undertreated and adequate follow-up to identify the extent of patients' compliance and response was missing.PMID:37401284 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32785
