The FAST-ED App: A Smartphone Platform for the Field Triage of Patients With Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—The FAST-ED smartphone application has great potential to improve the triage of patients with acute ischemic stroke, as it seems capable to optimize resources, reduce hospital arrivals times, and maximize the use of both intravenous tissue-type plasminogen activator and endovascular treatment ultimately leading to better clinical outcomes. Future field studies are needed to properly evaluate the impact of this tool in stroke outcomes and resource utilization.

Survey of survivors' perspective on return to work after stroke.
CONCLUSION: Although earning an income is a strong motivation to RTW, salary decreases in importance when compared with other psychological benefits. Fatigue was rated as the second highest impairment barrier to RTW and persisted as a relevant impediment over time. Attitudes of co-workers and flexibility in work schedule were viewed as most helpful to the RTW process, whereas work stress was viewed as the greatest impediment to return. Only 24% of the sample received VR counseling with more respondents receiving counseling if they returned 6 months or longer after their stroke. Other trends and clinical and research implic...

Higher Incidence of Stroke on the Last Day of the Month in Hungary—a Role for Psychosocial Factors and Financial Insecurity?
The seasonal cumulation of acute ischemic stroke events is a well-known phenomenon. Critical days are determined by both biological and psychosocial factors. We hypothesized that the financial stability of those with a monthly income living in an economically unpredictable environment rises upon the arrival of their salary and decreases in the preceding days, leading to anxiety and existential insecurity, which may increase the incidence of acute ischemic stroke.

Lost Productivity in Stroke Survivors: An Econometrics Analysis
Conclusions: Stroke survivors are less likely to be employed and they earn a lower hourly wage than the general population. Interventions such as dedicated vocational rehabilitation and policies targeting return to work could be considered to address this lost productivity among stroke survivors.Neuroepidemiology 2016;47:164-170

Predictive Validity of Severity Grading for Cerebral Steno-Occlusive Arteriopathy in Recurrent Childhood Ischemic Stroke (P02.096)
CONCLUSIONS: The CVS score is a reliable measure of severity of steno-occlusive arteriopathy in childhood stroke, and is associated with stroke recurrence in children with a primary arteriopathic ischemic stroke. It may be useful for risk stratification in future trials of secondary stroke prevention.Supported by: Salary support from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and NIH-T32-NS07153.Disclosure: Dr. Sultan has nothing to disclose. Financial management of a large multisite randomized clinical trial
ConclusionsPerformance‐based budgets conserve funding, promote compliance, and allow for additional sites at modest additional cost. Costs of large‐scale clinical trials can thus be reduced through effective management without compromising scientific integrity.
