Nonbacterial Thrombotic Endocarditis Complicated by Cerebral Infarction in a Patient with Adenomyosis with High Serum CA125 Level; A Case Report
We report a case of a 48-year-old woman with multiple cerebral infarctions caused by nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis (NBTE) because of adenomyosis with high serum carbohydrate antigen (CA)125 level. Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) showed a vegetation, 4 mm in diameter, adjacent to the anterior leaflet of the mitral valve on day 2. Soluble CA125 level was elevated to 901 U/mL. Intravenous infusion of unfractionated heparin sodium was started. On day 35, TEE revealed reduction of the vegetation in size, 2 mm in diameter.

Variation in practice patterns in device closure of atrial septal defects and patent ductus arteriosus: An analysis of data from the IMPACT ® Registry
Conclusion There is measurable variation in transcatheter closure of PDA and ASD. Further research is necessary to study whether this affects outcomes or resource utilization.

Cerebral Infarcts by Nonbacterial Thrombotic Endocarditis Associated with Adenomyosis: A Case Report
We report a case of multiple embolic cerebral infarcts associated with nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis (NBTE) in a patient with adenomyosis. The patient presented with dysarthria, left perioral sensory change, and left-hand weakness. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multiple vascular territory infarctions involving the bilateral cerebellum and the right precentral gyrus. Magnetic resonance angiography was normal. d-Dimer, carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9, and CA125 levels were elevated. Abdominal and pelvic computed tomography with iodine contrast enhancement revealed a huge adenomyosis with left ovarian cyst.

Return to the workforce following infective endocarditis —A nationwide cohort study
Conclusions Seven of 10 patients who were part of the workforce prior to IE and alive at discharge were part of the workforce 1 year later. Younger age, higher socioeconomic status, and absence of major comorbidities were associated with return to the workforce.

Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Repair Through Right Minithoracotomy - 11-Year Single Institute Experience.
CONCLUSIONS: MIMVR can be performed safely with low levels of mortality and morbidity, and provides sufficient repair durability. A learning curve exists in terms of repair durability, especially for anterior mitral leaflet repair.

Valvectomy versus Replacement for the Surgical Treatment of Tricuspid Endocarditis
Conclusions Tricuspid valve excision, repair, and replacement have similar 30-day operative mortality, as defined by the STS, in TV endocarditis patients and significantly lower unplanned readmission rates at one year in the excision patients. Tricuspid valvectomy is an acceptable initial treatment in this high-risk group as part of a surgical strategy to identify patients who are candidates for eventual valve replacement. Further study of long term outcomes and survival is warranted.

Homograft Versus Conventional Prosthesis for Surgical Management of Aortic Valve Infective Endocarditis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Conclusions
Homografts and conventional prostheses offer similar survival and freedom from recurrent endocarditis and reoperation for aortic valve IE. Homografts may be associated with greater risk of reoperation compared with mechanical valves.
