Clinical outcomes of secondary prevention strategies for young patients with cryptogenic stroke and patent foramen ovale.
Conclusions The diagnosis of stroke in patients with PFO could be confirmed in 50% of cases only, underlining the importance of a multidisciplinary evaluation of these patients. A very low ischaemic recurrence rate was observed in the medical therapy group, suggesting that a personalized treatment based on a prespecified diagnostic algorithm yields good clinical results irrespective of the treatment modality. Previous use of statins and atrial electrical remodeling in patients with cryptogenic stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show lower PWD values in cryptogenic stroke patients previously treated with statins. These findings provide support to the hypothesis that statins may play a role in modulating atrial electrophysiological and structural properties, preventing the occurrence of a slowed and heterogeneous atrial conduction and finally, reducing the occurrence of AF. Robot-assisted gait training improves motor performances and modifies Motor Unit firing in post-stroke patients.
Conclusions: The evidence that the improvement of walking ability observed in our study determines a significant increase of firing rate of VM not accompanied by an increase of force could suggest an effect of training on motorneuronal firing rate that thus contributes to improve motor control. Trunk motion and muscular strength affect knee valgus moment during single-leg landing after overhead stroke in badminton
Conclusions Larger lateral trunk bending associated with weak flexion strength increased knee valgus moment during single-leg landing. The core muscle training focused on trunk flexion strength may improve neuromuscular control of trunk and avoid excessive knee valgus moment in playing badminton, and this may play an important role of ACL injury prevention.

The dispersion of myocardial repolarization in ischemic stroke and intracranial hemorrhage
Markers of dispersion of myocardial repolarization have been proposed to identify the patients at higher risk of malignant arrhythmic events. The aim of the present study is to assess a possible association of the electrocardiografic (ECG) markers of the dispersion of repolarization with the type of stroke, involvement of insula, neurological severity (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, NIHSS score), and disability (modified Rankin Scale, mRS score) in patients with a cerebrovascular event.

Introduction: Robotics and related technologies have begun to realize their promise to improve the delivery of rehabilitation therapy, but the mechanism by which they enhance recovery remains unclear and the details of the recovery process is still largely unknown [1,2]. The electromechanical-driven gait orthosis Lokomat has demonstrated its feasibility and utility for gait rehabilitation after stroke, but the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying the improvement of motor function has not been deeply investigated yet [3].

The benefit of radiosurgery for ARUBA-eligible arteriovenous malformations: a practical analysis over an appropriate follow-up period.

Shoulder injuries in highly trained competitive swimmers
Conclusions Injury incidence was not influenced by sex or level of competition, but was 50% lower for breaststroke swimmers. Despite the symmetrical nature of swimming the right shoulder seems to be at greater risk of injury.
