Functional characterization of a mouse model for central post-stroke pain
Conclusions These results suggest that the evoked hypersensitivity observed in central post-stroke pain is causally linked to on-going neuronal activity in the lateral thalamus.

Musculoskeletal and central pain at 1  year post‐stroke: associated factors and impact on quality of life
ConclusionsPain is common 12 months post‐stroke. The factors associated with CPSP and MSP differ, but are both closely associated with fatigue rather than depression. QOL is the poorest in patients with combined pain. Management of pain and fatigue may be important for improving the QOL in stroke patients.

Effects of Kinesio taping for stroke patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain: A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study.
CONCLUSION: Stroke patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain can experience greater reductions in Shoulder Pain and Disability Index, pain, and improvement in shoulder flexion, external, and internal rotation after 3 weeks of Kinesio taping intervention compared with sham Kinesio taping. Risk of Stroke Associated With Use of Estrogen Containing Contraceptives in Women With Migraine: A Systematic Review
ConclusionsThis systematic review shows a lack of good quality studies assessing risk of stroke associated with low dose estrogen use in women with migraine. Further study in this area is needed. The available evidence is consistent with an additive increase in stroke risk with CHC use in women with migraine with aura. Since the absolute risk of stroke is low even in the presence of these risk factors, use of CHCs in women who have migraine with aura should be based on an individualized assessment of harms and benefits.

Acupuncture for acute stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: This updated review indicates that apparently improved outcomes with acupuncture in acute stroke are confounded by the risk of bias related to use of open controls. Adverse events related to acupuncture were reported to be minor and usually did not result in stopping treatment. Future studies are needed to confirm or refute any effects of acupuncture in acute stroke. The role of biopsychosocial factors in the rehabilitation process of individuals with a stroke.
CONCLUSIONS:Comprehensive neurological rehabilitation, taking into account mental challenges and socio-economic circumstances of individuals with a stroke is essential in order to achieve high efficacy of physiotherapy. Important external factors may play a pivotal role in returning to work as well and should be taken into account during rehabilitation. Of interest should be to assess more biopsychological factors, such as acceptance of illness and a sense of self-efficacy referred to as barriers to return to work. Headaches Attributed to Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack.

The three-dimensional shoulder pain alignment (3D-SPA) mobilization improves pain-free shoulder range, functional reach and sleep following stroke: a pilot randomized control trial.

Prevalence of upper-limb spasticity and its impact on care among nursing home residents with prior stroke.

Sequelae and Quality of Life in Patients Living at Home 1 Year After a Stroke Managed in Stroke Units
Conclusion Despite a good one-year post-stroke functional outcome, non-motor disabling symptoms are frequent amongst patients returned home and able to be interviewed, contributing to a low level of participation and a poor quality of life. Rehabilitation strategies focused on participation should be developed to break the vicious circle of social isolation and improve quality of life.
