Can dietary saturated fat be beneficial in prevention of stroke risk? A meta-analysis
Abstract We conducted a meta-analysis to summarize available evidence regarding the relation between saturated fatty acid (SFA) intake and stroke risk. We searched multiple electronic databases through February 2016. Log relative risks (RRs) with 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) of the highest versus the lowest for cohort studies were weighed by the inverse variance method to obtain combined RRs. 15 prospective studies including 476,569 individuals and 11,074 strokes were included. Dietary saturated fat intake and risk of stroke: systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies
ConclusionThis meta-analysis further demonstrated that a higher consumption of dietary SFA is associated with a lower risk of stroke, and every 10 grams/day increase in SFA intake is associated with a 6% relative risk reduction in the rate of stroke. Further research is needed to explore the influence of specific SFA types and different macronutrient replacement models of SFA on the stroke risk.

High Dietary Saturated Fat is Associated with a Low Risk of Intracerebral Hemorrhage and Ischemic Stroke in Japanese but not in Non-Japanese: A Review and Meta-Analysis of Prospective Cohort Studies.
CONCLUSIONS: In Japanese but not in non-Japanese, a diet high in saturated fat is associated with a low risk of intracerebral hemorrhage and ischemic stroke. This may be due to differences in the range of intake of saturated fat, genetic susceptibility, incidence of lacunar infarction, and/or confounding factors such as dietary proteins. Review finds no link between dairy and heart attack or stroke risk
Conclusion This large meta-analysis of cohort studies demonstrated no increased risk to cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease or all-cause death from eating dairy products. The review has strengths in its large size and the fact it was able to analyse different types of dairy product, such as high and low-fat and everyday products such as cheese and yoghurt.
