Kidney transplantation waiting times and risk of cardiovascular events and mortality: a retrospective observational cohort study in Taiwan
Conclusions Our results demonstrate that early KT is associated with superior long-term cardiovascular outcomes compared with late KT in selected patients with ESRD receiving uncomplicated KT, suggesting that an early KT could be a better treatment option for patients with ESRD who are eligible for transplantation.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is the most common inherited hemoglobin disorder affecting approximately 100,000 people in the United States (U.S.), a majority of whom are Black/African American, with an incidence rate of 1 in every 365 births.1 SCD is a chronic health condition associated with acute painful vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC), acute chest syndrome (ACS), stroke, chronic organ damage and culminates in a life expectancy that is less than half that of the general American population.2-4

Use of durable left ventricular assist devices for high-risk patients: Korean experience before insurance coverage.

Conclusion: CVD is a common complication in MM patients: within 5 years of a MM diagnosis, over 25% develop CVD requiring hospitalization. Contrary to our hypothesis, we did not find increased CVD admissions in the most recent era. Medical Conditions Among Survivors of Adolescent and Young Adult Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
Conclusion: This study found that sociodemographic factors were associated with the risk of developing medical conditions in AYA NHL, ALL and AML survivors. As expected, the risk of medical conditions varied by cancer type and treatment, with those undergoing SCT having a higher risk of medical conditions regardless of cancer type. NHL and ALL survivors who were uninsured or publicly insured were at a consistently higher risk of developing medical conditions, as were Hispanic ALL survivors and Black AML survivors. Renal transplantation delays major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) in patients with end-stage renal disease: A nationwide population-based study
ConclusionRT seemed not to reduce the risk of MACEs directly, but it could have dramatically delayed MACEs and stroke episodes in the ESRD patients. Furthermore, a lower mortality rate was observed in the ESRD patients who received RT than in those undergoing chronic dialysis. Further in-depth investigation is necessary to identify other protective factors against MACEs or stroke in ESRD.
