Shared genetic susceptibility of vascular-related biomarkers with ischemic and recurrent stroke
Conclusions: Our data identify a genetic contribution to inflammatory and hemostatic biomarkers in a stroke population. Additionally, our results suggest shared genetic contributions to circulating CRP levels measured poststroke and risk for incident and recurrent ischemic stroke. These data broaden our understanding of genetic contributors to biomarker variation and ischemic stroke risk, which should be useful in clinical risk evaluation.

Women Had Worse Stroke Outcome (P1.217)
Conclusion: in our cohort women have worst post-stroke outcome, even though they have higher burden of vascular risk factors they have lower prevalence of vascular disease in other vascular beds previous to stroke. This difference persists after adjusting by age, raising the possibility of specific gender risk factors influencing on ischemic stroke outcomes.Disclosure: Dr. Zurru has nothing to disclose. Multiple Myeloma Stage I, II and Renal Insufficiency Are Associated with Increased Stroke Risk (S31.003)
Conclusion: In multiple myeloma, patient’s renal insufficiency and MM Stage I and II were independent predictors of increased stroke risk. Besides these hypercoagulability, atrial fibrillation, watershed strokes and small vessel disease played important role.Disclosure: Dr. Limaye has nothing to disclose. Cardiovascular events after ischemic stroke in young adults: A prospective follow-up study
Conclusions: The risk for future cardiovascular events after ischemic stroke in young adults remains high for years after the index stroke, in particular when the index stroke is caused by high-risk sources of cardioembolism or large-artery atherosclerosis.

Improved in-hospital outcomes and care for patients in stroke research: An observational study
Conclusions: Patients who participate in stroke research receive better in-hospital care and are more likely to survive compared to nonresearch participants. Classification of evidence: This study provides Class III evidence that patients with stroke who participate in research receive better quality of care and have reduced in-hospital mortality.

Interleukin-37 is Elevated in Acute Ischemic Stroke (P1.260)
Conclusions:The study shows a rather stable elevation of IL-37 levels post-ischemic stroke, which if compared to available data from other studies, is 3–10 times elevated after acute ischemic stroke with an uptrend in the first few days. IL-37 plays some role in mediating post-stroke inflammation with significant rise in serum and urine IL- 37 levels suggesting a key role of this novel cytokine in post-stroke pathology.Disclosure: Dr. Bushnaq has nothing to disclose.
