Association of clinical and laboratory variables with in-hospital incidence of deep vein thrombosis in patients after acute ischemic stroke: A retrospective study
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a serious complication in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Early prediction of DVT could enable physicians to perform a proper prevention strategy. We analyzed the association of clinical and laboratory variables with DVT to evaluate the risk of DVT in patients after AIS. AIS patients admitted to the Changsha Central Hospital between January 2017 and December 2019 with length of stay in hospital ≥7 days were included. Clinical and laboratory variables for DVT at baseline were collected, and the diagnosis of DVT was confirmed by ultrasonography. Independent factors were developed...

Effects of autophagy inhibitor 3-Methyladenine on ischemic stroke: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis
Discussion: This systematic review and meta-analysis of the autophagy inhibitor 3-MAs effects on animal models of ischemic stroke can help us to understand whether inhibiting autophagy brings protection or damage to IP neurons; in addition, it also helps to clarify the specific role of autophagy in cerebral infarction. Therefore, this study can provide evidence for the future development of therapy strategies targeting autophagy and bring more hope to patients with ischemic stroke. Effect of education and muscle relaxation program on anxiety, depression and care burden in caregivers of acute stroke survivors: A randomized, controlled study
This study intended to discover the effect of education and muscle relaxation (EMR) program on anxiety, depression and care burden among caregivers of acute stroke survivors. This randomized, controlled study enrolled a total of 110 caregivers of first-ever acute stroke patients, and randomly assigned to EMR (N = 55) and control (N = 55) groups. The caregivers in the EMR group received 12-month health education and progressive muscle relaxation, and those in control group were provided common rehabilitation advices. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale in caregivers were ...

How demographic and clinical characteristics contribute to the recovery of post-stroke dysphagia?
According to the analysis to find out how demographic and clinical characteristics influent the dysphagia outcome after stroke, furthermore, giving some insights to clinical treatment. One hundred eighty post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) patients were enrolled in this retrospective study at the stroke rehabilitation department. The outcome measurements are beside water swallow test at discharge and length of stay at hospital. Twenty-five demographic and clinical variables were collected for this study. Logistic regression and multilinear regression were utilized to estimate models to identify the risk and protect predictors o...

Simultaneous cardio-cerebral infarction in the coronavirus disease pandemic era: A case series
Conclusion: Early recognition and immediate treatment is important in different scenarios leading to thrombosis as the outcome. Additionally, addressing the unknown risks that could contribute to our traditional understanding of these causative mechanisms is important. The hypothesis of exacerbated damage caused by inflammatory and immunological endothelial systemic damage should further be explored to be able to delineate new possibilities in managing these conditions.

Early physical rehabilitation vs standard care for intracerebral hemorrhage stroke: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis
Background: The intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke (ICH) is associated with high mortality and severe disability in survivors, which causing about 42% of the disability-adjusted life years lost and 50% of all stroke patients dead within 1 year. Although early functional training is recommended to facility rehabilitation after the stroke, the benefit and safety are still controversial. Introduction: This systematic review aims to investigate whether early physical rehabilitation could have a beneficial effect for the patients with ICH compared with standard rehabilitation care. Methods and analysis: Pubmed, ...

Clinical outcomes of multivessel coronary artery disease patients revascularized by robot-assisted vs conventional standard coronary artery bypass graft surgeries in real-world practice
The treatment of patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (MVD) by coronary stenting (PCI) and the “gold standard” conventional coronary-artery bypass grafting (C-CABG) has been well explored in the literature. However, the clinical outcomes of robot-assisted CABG (R-CABG) vs C-CABG in MVD patients in real-world practice were unknown. We aimed to study the clinical outcomes of MVD patients who underwent R-CABG (robotic MIDCAB) and C-CABG at our institution between January 2005 and December 2013. A total of 516 MVD patients received CABG were recruited into this study. Among them, 281 patients received R-CAB...

CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc, ATRIA, and Essen stroke risk scores in stroke with atrial fibrillation: A nationwide multicenter registry study
The performance of scoring systems for risk stratification in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) was not validated well in patients with stroke. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the risk scoring systems predict vascular outcomes in stroke patients with AF. Data were obtained from a nationwide multicenter registry for acute stroke with AF from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2015. We investigated the predictive power of the CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc, ATRIA, and Essen stroke scores in stroke patients with AF. The subjects were further stratified into groups according to treatment with or without oral anti...
