A clinical application study of a stent placement assessment
Discussion: Currently, no prospective controlled data exist regarding the efficacy and safety of carotid stenting in the acute phase. Previously, we had developed an ECASES stent placement system for acute carotid artery occlusion. The present study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of ECASES in a randomized, double-blind prospective study and clarify its guiding significance in acute atherosclerotic carotid artery occlusion surgery.

Brain perfusion single photon emission computed tomography abnormality in MRI-negative stroke-like patients post COVID-19 vaccination
Stroke-like symptoms after COVID-19 vaccination was thought to be functional if there was no anatomical image abnormality. We aimed to analyze brain perfusion changes in these patients. A case-control study of brain perfusion single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) of 12 vaccinated patients with left-sided stroke-like symptoms were compared with 12 age- and gender-matched normal interictal brain SPECTs using voxel-based analysis. Significant hyperperfusion was seen on the right side in postcentral, inferior parietal, mid temporal, parahippocampal, and caudate regions, and on the left side in the thalamus, hippoc...

Clinical characteristics and risk factors for kidney failure in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease: A retrospective study
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a hereditary and progressive renal disease. By the age of 65 years, 45% to 70% of patients with ADPKD reach end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Although there are various treatments for this condition, no standard therapy exists to delay the progression of ADPKD. Hence, understanding the factors that affect disease progression may be helpful for the treatment of ADPKD. The medical records of 288 patients with ADPKD at Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center between January 1989 and August 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. Furthermore, we inspected the risk factors in...

Acupuncture improves the residual urine volume of bladder of middle age patients with urinary retention post-stroke: A protocol for systematic review and meta analysis
Conclusion: The residual urine volume of bladder will be the primary outcome measure, whereas the Clinical efficiency will be the secondary outcomes. Side effects and adverse events will be included as safety evaluations. To ensure the quality of the systematic evaluation, study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment will be independently performed by two authors, whereas a third author will resolve any disagreement.

Standing and supine positions are better than sitting in improving rightward deviation in right-hemispheric stroke patients with unilateral spatial neglect: A randomized trial
Trial design: How body position affects unilateral spatial neglect (USN) is unclear. This cluster randomized trial aimed to examine the effects of different positions (supine, sitting, and standing) on USN in stroke patients. Methods: Twenty stroke patients (hemorrhage [n = 11], infarction [n = 9]) who were right-handed, had left hemiplegia due to right hemisphere damage that occurred within the last 2 years, and were in a state of arousal with a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15 were included in the study. Table-top pen-and-pencil tests for USN (Bells Test, Line Bisection, Scene Copy, and Star Cancellation) were r...

Risk factors for stroke in a population of central China: A cross-sectional study
This study sought to investigate and analyze the distribution of stroke population and the main risk factors for stroke occurrence in a Chinese population, and to predict the probability of stroke occurrence in high-risk groups with risk factors, so as to provide a scientific basis for the comprehensive prevention and treatment of stroke. A whole-group sampling method was used to investigate 1009 participants in Jingzhou city in central China, and a uniform questionnaire survey and related medical examinations were conducted. The risk factors for stroke in the area were analyzed by univariate analysis, and a multifactorial...
