ConclusionCryptogenic strokes in patients with cancer are cardioembolic manifestations of cancer-mediated hypercoagulability such as NBTE, which consists of sterile, platelet-fibrin vegetations on cardiac valves. The mechanism of thromboembolism in patients with cancer is based on the interaction between tumor cells and leukocytes, which creates a thrombogenic vascular lining and induces the release of substances that activate the coagulation cascade. Discussion: This large family with DBA demonstrates the heterogeneity of phenotypes that can be seen within the same genotype. Most family members presented with steroid-responsive anemia in infancy and subtle congenital malformations, findings consistent with recent genotype-phenotype studies of RPS DBA. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid biomarkers and risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and mortality
CONCLUSIONS: Higher concentrations of marine-derived omega-3 PUFA biomarkers were associated with a significantly reduced risk of total CVD, CHD, and total mortality. Levels of ALA were inversely associated with a lower risk of T2D but not CVD-related outcomes. These data support the dietary recommendations advocating the role of omega-3 PUFAs in maintaining an overall lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease and premature deaths.PMID:35830775 | DOI:10.1016/j.clnu.2022.06.034

CONCLUSION: Patient and procedure-level factors may alter the benefits of lung cancer screening. Data concerning individual risk factors and high-risk complications should therefore be incorporated into diagnostic algorithms to optimize clinical benefit and minimize harm.
