Sildenafil Administration Improves Right Ventricular Function on 4D Flow MRI in Young Adults Born Premature
CONCLUSIONS: Despite reduced right atrial workload, metoprolol significantly depressed overall cardiac systolic function. Sildenafil, however, increased CI and improved RV function, as quantified by the direct flow fraction. The preterm heart appears dependent on HR, but sensitive to RV afterload manipulations.PMID:33861148 | DOI:10.1152/ajpheart.00824.2020

Efficacy of Beraprost Sodium Combined with Sildenafil and Its Effects on Vascular Endothelial Function and Inflammation in Patients Experiencing Left Heart Failure Complicated with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
CONCLUSIONS Beraprost sodium combined with sildenafil for left heart failure complicated with pulmonary arterial hypertension can effectively improve pulmonary arterial hypertension, alleviate left heart failure, and reduce inflammatory responses, thereby achieving better clinical efficacy in patients. Efficacy of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors in univentricular congenital heart disease: the SV ‐INHIBITION study design
ConclusionsThe SV ‐INHIBITION study aims to answer the question whether PDE5 inhibitors should be prescribed in patients with an SV. This trial has been built focusing on the three levels of research defined by the World Health Organization: disability (exercise tolerance), deficit (SV function), and handicap (qual ity of life).

Effect of sildenafil on maternal hemodynamics in pregnancies complicated by severe early-onset fetal growth restriction: planned subgroup analysis from a multicenter randomized placebo-controlled double-blind trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Sildenafil in a dose of 25 mg three times daily increases HR, reduces BP and reduces arterial stiffness in pregnancies complicated by FGR. These changes are modest, consistent with the anticipated vasodilatory effect and their clinical impact on the mother and baby, in both the short- and long-term, remains uncertain. Sildenafil Reduces the Risk of Thromboembolic Events in HeartMate II Patients with Low-Level Hemolysis and Significantly Improves the Pulmonary Circulation.
Authors: Zayat R, Ahmad U, Stoppe C, Khattab MA, Arab F, Moza A, Tewarie L, Goetzenich A, Autschbach R, Schnoering H Abstract Low-level hemolysis (LLH) after left ventricular assist device implantation contributes to thromboembolic events (TE). Free plasma hemoglobin (fHb) scavenges nitric oxide (NO), which causes endothelial dysfunction and activates platelets. fHb also interacts with von Willebrand factor (vWF). We hypothesized that improved hemodynamic and enhanced NO signaling in HeartMate II (HMII) patients with LLH taking the phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor sildenafil may reduce the risk of TE.From 2011 to 2015...

Men With Erectile Dysfunction Are Twice As Likely to Have Heart Disease, Study Says
By now, most people are familiar with the factors that can increase the risk of having a heart attack: gaining too much weight, having high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels, smoking and not exercising enough. In a study published Monday in the journal Circulation, researchers say they have documented another risk factor that could help identify men at greatest risk of heart problems: Among a group of 1,900 men aged 60 to 78, those with erectile dysfunction were twice as likely as men without the condition to have a heart attack, stroke, or die of a heart problem. Around 20% of men over age 20 experience erectile ...

Sildenafil in Left Ventricular Assist Device Is Safe and Well-Tolerated
Right heart failure is a potentially devastating complication of mechanical circulatory support, occurring at a rate of 0.49 events per 100 patient-months.1 Pulmonary vasodilators such as phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (PDE5i) have been frequently used to unload the right ventricle in left ventricular assist device (LVAD) patients, but there is scant evidence to support this practice.2,3 The purpose of this analysis is to provide additional data regarding the safety and efficacy of the PDE5i sildenafil in a real world population of patients supported with LVADs at Washington University in St. Louis. Sildenafil use was not ...

Nifedipine cream versus sildenafil cream for patients with secondary Raynaud phenomenon: A randomized, double-blind, controlled pilot study
The objective of the study was to compare the vasodilator efficacy of topical 10% nifedipine versus 5% sildenafil in subjects with secondary RP associated with connective tissue disease. A prospective study was performed including 10 patients with secondary RP. We excluded tobacco smokers, patients with primary RP, hypotension, hypertension, myocardial infarction, stroke, or arrhythmia.

New shot for men and women
Today I want to tell you about a quick, painless procedure that will put the spontaneity back into your sex life. And you don’t have to take a pill and then wait 30 minutes or more… I’m talking about platelet-rich plasma, or PRP for short. I’ve used PRP in my patients to heal sports injuries, aching joints and surgical wounds. It’s better than a facelift to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. But PRP also works if you’re having trouble in the bedroom. More than a third of men suffer from sexual dysfunction. And 40% of women do too. I’m talking about everything from erectile dysfunctio...

Quality of erections by age group in men with erectile dysfunction
ConclusionsSildenafil significantly improved erection quality across all age groups of men with ED. Efficacy improvements with sildenafil were consistent with the QEQ, IIEF, and EDITS. AEs were comparable across age groups.ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT00159900, NCT00147628, NCT00301262, NCT00343200.
