E-191 Influence of socioeconomic factors on the development of post-stroke depression in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage survivors
ConclusionThe overall risk of developing a new depression disorder after aSAH was 16% in this retrospective study. The female sex was close to 4 times and substance use were six and half time more likely to develop new depressive symptoms; therefore, these risk factors should be considered when screening patients for depression after aSAH.Disclosures D. Impact of Electronic Cigarette Vaping on Cerebral Ischemia: What We Know So Far
AbstractElectronic cigarettes (ECs) are battery-powered nicotine delivery devices that have rapidly gained popularity and attention globally. ECs work by heating a liquid to produce an aerosol that usually contains nicotine, flavoring compounds, and other chemicals, which are inhaled during vaping. EC aerosols are depicted to contain a lower number and overall quantity of harmful toxicants than conventional cigarettes (CCs). However, emerging research indicates that EC aerosols contain harmful ingredients including ultrafine particles, volatile organic compounds, and heavy metals. One common ingredient found in both CCs an...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 4137: Cardiovascular Outcomes among Combustible-Tobacco and Electronic Nicotine Delivery System (ENDS) Users in Waves 1 through 5 of the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) Study, 2013 & ndash;2019
Conclusions: This study found no difference in CVD incidence by tobacco status over three 3 year intervals, even for tobacco quitters. It is possible that additional waves of PATH Study data, combined with information from other large longitudinal cohorts with careful tracking of ENDS use patterns may help to further clarify this relationship.

Hormesis and Endothelial Progenitor Cells
Dose Response. 2022 Feb 23;20(1):15593258211068625. doi: 10.1177/15593258211068625. eCollection 2022 Jan-Mar.ABSTRACTHormetic-biphasic dose response relationships are reported herein for human endothelial progenitor cells involving estradiol, nicotine, the anti-diabetic agent pioglitazone, resveratrol, and progesterone. In general, these studies demonstrate the capacity of these agents to enhance EPC proliferation and angiogenesis functional applications, having a focus on repairing endothelial tissue damage due to acute injury (e.g., stroke), as well as damage from chronic conditions (e.g., atherosclerosis) and normal agi...
