Study protocol for a pilot randomised controlled trial evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions to recover functionality after a transient ischaemic attack or a minor stroke: the 'Back to Normal trial
This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Local Health Unit of Matosinhos (Ref. 75/CES/JAS). Written informed consent will be required from all the participants; data protection and confidentiality will be also ensured. The findings of this project are expected to be submitted for publication in scientific articles, and the main results will be presented at relevant scientific meetings. ConclusionsThe Portuguese version of the AC-QoL is a comprehensive, simple, reliable and valid instrument to assess informal stroke carers' QoL.Key messagesThe Portuguese version of the AC-QoL is a comprehensive and valid instrument with a high degree of reliability, that can be briefly and easily applied to informal carers of stroke survivors.A comprehensive and brief assessment of informal carers ’ QoL will contribute to devise strategies to promote well-being and social integration of stroke survivors and their informal carers.

Translation and validation of the stroke self-efficacy questionnaire to a Portuguese version in stroke survivors.
Conclusion: SSEQ-B is a valid, reliable, and stable patient-reported outcome. It has concurrent validity with self-reported measures of depression, functional independence and a multi-dimensional measure of health status in chronic stroke survivors in Brazil. Diagnosing dementia in lower educated older persons: validation of a Brazilian Portuguese version of the Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale (RUDAS).
CONCLUSIONS: The RUDAS-BR is as accurate as the MMSE in screening for dementia. RUDAS-BR scores were not influenced by education. The water extract of tutsan (Hypericum androsaemum L.) red berries exerts antidepressive-like effects and in vivo antioxidant activity in a mouse model of post-stroke depression.
In this study, we assessed the beneficial role of the water extract of H. androsaemum red berries (WE) in an experimental animal model of post-stroke depression. WE was obtained by decoction of H. androsaemum red berries, and its content of ten bioactive compounds was determined through HPLC-DAD analysis.
