Dl-3-n-butylphthalide promotes angiogenesis in ischemic stroke mice through upregulating autocrine and paracrine sonic hedgehog
In this study, we investigated the mechanisms underlying the angiogenesis-promoting effects of NBP in ischemic stroke models in vitro and in vivo. OGD/R model was established in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and human brain microvascular endothelial cells (HBMECs), while the tMCAO model was established in mice. The cells were pretreated with NBP (10, 50, 100 µM); the mice were administered NBP (4, 8 mg/kg, i.v.) twice after tMCAO. We showed that NBP treatment significantly stimulated angiogenesis by inducing massive production of angiogenic growth factors VEGFA and CD31 in both in vitro and in vivo model...

The role of high humidity on extreme-temperature-related mortality in central China
AbstractThe evidence of non-optimum ambient temperature and humidity-related mortality is widely reported. However, the joint effects of high humidity and extreme temperatures on mortality remain to understand. We collected mortality data and meteorological variables for 91 counties in central China, from 2017 to 2020. A traditional time-series model with a distributed lag non-linear model was first employed to estimate the location-specific associations between extreme temperatures or high humidity and extreme temperatures and mortality. Then, we conducted a meta-analysis to pool the county-specific estimated effect value...

Predictive Model for PICC Occlusion Risk for Patients in Intensive Care Units: A Retrospective Clinical Study
CONCLUSIONS: Age ≥65 years, BMI ≥24 kg/m2, diabetes, malignant tumors, blood transfusions, and intravenous nutrition were independent risk factors for PICC occlusion, while the frequency of flushing and sealing pipe (Q8h) was a protective factor. This prediction model had an outstanding ability to discriminate in identifying patients with a high-risk of PICC occlusion in the ICU.PMID:37573601
