Identifying coronary artery bypass grafting patients at high risk for adverse long-term prognosis using serial health-related quality of life assessments
CONCLUSIONS: Baseline MCS and changes in MCS were independent predictors for long-term mortality of CABG. Better mental health status and recovery indicated better prognosis.PMID:37620281 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002806

Supportive care needs of patients who had a stroke: a scoping review protocol
Introduction Incidences of stroke are on the rise and approximately 80 million stroke survivors worldwide live with disabilities. Supportive care needs of stroke survivors are not adequately defined, and the assessment tools to help care service providers identify these needs are unclear. The overall aim of this scoping review will be to map the supportive care needs of stroke survivors against the Supportive Care Needs Framework. Methods and analysis This scoping review will be conducted following Arksey and O’Malley’s methodological framework and Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) updated methodological guidance ...

Vasoprotective Effects of Hyperoside against Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats: Activation of Large-Conductance Ca < sup > 2+ < /sup > -Activated K < sup > + < /sup > Channels
Neural Plast. 2023 Aug 14;2023:5545205. doi: 10.1155/2023/5545205. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTHyperoside (Hyp), a kind of Chinese herbal medicine, exerts multiple therapeutic effects on many diseases. However, the role and mechanisms of Hyp in vascular pathophysiology in ischemic stroke need to be further established. The study aimed to investigate the role of (large-conductance Ca2+-activated K+) BK channels on the vasoprotection of Hyp against cerebral ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats. The concentration gradient of Hyp was pretreated in both the middle cerebral artery occlusion and reperfusion model and oxygen...

Short-term exposure to reduced specific-size ambient particulate matter increase the risk of cause-specific cardiovascular disease: A national-wide evidence from hospital admissions
This study provides robust evidence of short-term associations between PM1 concentrations and increased hospital admissions for all major cardiovascular diseases in China. Our findings suggest a greater short-term impact on cardiovascular risk from PM1 in comparison to PM2.5 and PM10.PMID:37611473 | DOI:10.1016/j.ecoenv.2023.115327
