Mechanical thrombectomy for acute paradoxical cerebral embolism due to pulmonary arteriovenous malformation: A case report and review of literature
CONCLUSION: Although rare, PAVM is a treatable cause of stroke in relatively young adults; thus, it is important to keep in mind the possibility of its presence.PMID:36751447 | PMC:PMC9899467 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_987_2022

Comparative analysis between 1-D, 2-D and 3-D carotid web quantification
Conclusion CaW dimension quantification (1-D, 2-D and 3-D) is highly reproducible. Linear and volumetric measurements were more strongly associated with symptoms. The impact of CaW size on the presence of LVOS, clot burden and final infarct volume is unclear.

Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Common Carotid Artery Occlusion
Neurol Med Chir (Tokyo). 2023 Jan 5. doi: 10.2176/jns-nmc.2022-0183. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMechanical thrombectomy (MT) is the standard treatment for acute large occlusion of the cerebral artery. Evidence for the success of this procedure was based on the treatment of patients with internal carotid artery and middle cerebral artery thrombi. There are a few reports on thrombi extending to the common carotid artery (CCA). We document our endovascular procedure and the clinical outcome in seven consecutive patients who underwent MT for CCA thrombi between September 2016 and April 2021. Their mean National Institutes o...

Frontline thrombectomy strategy and outcome in acute basilar artery occlusion
Conclusion Among BAO patients, the combined technique effectively contributed to complete revascularization that showed a 90 day favorable outcome with an equivalent complication rate after thrombectomy.

Cost-effectiveness of thrombectomy in patients with minor stroke and large vessel occlusion: effect of thrombus location on cost-effectiveness and outcomes
Conclusions EVT is cost-effective in patients with minor stroke and LVO in the long term (lifetime horizon), considering the poor outcomes and significant disability associated with non-reperfusion. Our study emphasizes the need for caution in interpreting previous observational studies which concluded similar results in EVT versus medical management in patients with minor stroke due to a high proportion of patients with M2 occlusions in the two strategies.

Periprocedural cerebrovascular complications and 30-day outcomes of endovascular treatment for intracranial vertebral artery dissecting aneurysms
CONCLUSIONS: Hyperlipidemia, IS history, and SAH were independent predictors for overall periprocedural cerebrovascular complications of endovascular treatment for IVADAs, but aneurysmal height was an independent protective factor. SAH and preprocedural mRS score > 2 were independent risk factors for perforator occlusion stroke. Preprocedural mRS score > 2 and periprocedural complications were independent risk factors for 30-day unfavorable clinical outcomes.PMID:36401540 | DOI:10.3171/2022.10.JNS221953
