Thrombus Migration in the Middle Cerebral Artery: Incidence, Imaging Signs, and Impact on Success of Endovascular Thrombectomy Stroke
ConclusionsPreinterventional TM does not seem to be facilitated by intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator and often occurs spontaneously. However, TM is associated with the risk of incomplete reperfusion in subsequent thrombectomy, suggesting increased clot fragility. Occurrence of TM may thereby have a substantial impact on the outcome of endovascularly treated stroke patients.

Incidence and Risk Factors of Cerebrovascular Events Following Cardiac Catheterization Stroke
Conclusion In a single-center, retrospective assessment over nearly 20 years, cardiac catheterization-related CVEs were very rare and nearly exclusively ischemic. The independent predictors for these events were found to be the performance of an intervention and those associated with increased atherosclerotic burden, specifically older age, triple vessel disease, and prior stroke. The presence of intracoronary thrombus appears also to raise the risk of procedure-related CVE.

Conclusion: The current study shows for the first time that in hypertension the number of TF-positive megakaryocytes increases thus releasing in the circulation more platelets carrying a functionally active TF. AngII stimulates platelets to express TF.

Thrombolytic Recanalization of Carotid Arteries Is Highly Dependent on Degree of Stenosis, Despite Sonothrombolysis Stroke
Conclusions In this model, the degree of carotid stenosis had a large effect on thrombolytic recanalization. Sonothrombolysis using standard parameters for intracranial sonothrombolysis did not increase recanalization. Further testing is warranted. The degree of underlying stenosis may be an important predictor of thrombolytic recanalization, and clinical correlation of these findings may provide new approaches to treatment selection for patients with carotid occlusion.

Pravastatin Reduces the Risk of Atherothrombotic Stroke when Administered within Six Months of an Initial Stroke Event.

Over 1.4 million cardiac catheterization procedures (CCPs) take place yearly. CPP related stroke incidence in 1973 was reported as 0.23%. CCPs are invasive in nature with complications occurring due to unintentional trauma to preexisting atherosclerotic aortic plaques or thrombus formation at catheter/guidewire tips. Japanese and Non-Japanese Patients with Transient Ischemic Attack or Minor Stroke: A Five-Year Risk Analysis of Stroke and Vascular Events.
CONCLUSIONS: Recurrent stroke and intracranial hemorrhage were determined to be more prevalent at 5 years after TIA or minor stroke in Japanese patients than in non-Japanese patients. Atrial fibrillation and risk of stroke: a nationwide cohort study
Conclusions Stroke/TE/TIA risk was particularly increased when prior stroke/TE/TIA was present. Atrial fibrillation is associated with an increase in risk of stroke/TE/TIA in the absence of other risk factors but only a moderate increase in risk when other risk factors are present.
