Timing of Initiation of Oral Anticoagulation after Acute Ischemic Stroke in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
AbstractPatients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who suffer an acute ischemic stroke are at risk for both hemorrhagic transformation and recurrent ischemic stroke in the acute post ‐stroke period. Oral anticoagulants are recommended for secondary stroke prevention in patients with AF. The optimal time to initiate anticoagulant therapy after acute ischemic stroke in patients with AF is uncertain. There is concern that early initiation increases the risk of hemorrhagic transfo rmation, whereas delayed initiation leaves the patient at risk for recurrent ischemic stroke. In this article, we provide a review of the risk of hemo...

Association between caveolin-1 and stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Although the differences are not statistically significant between the two groups, the high level of caveolin-1 are associated with the stroke, which may remedy the stroke. Besides, an opposite result was observed for the association of the caveolin-1 on the ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. To confirm this association, further studies are necessary. Comparison of aspirin and P2Y12 inhibitors for secondary prevention of ischaemic stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis suggests that P2Y12 inhibitors are more effective than aspirin in preventing recurrent ischaemic stroke among ischaemic stroke patients despite the absence of any effect on a new ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke, a new clinical vascular event, all-cause death, and major or minor bleeding events.PMID:35619249 | DOI:10.2174/2772432817666220526162144

Trial of a prehospital intervention with traditional Chinese medicine for acute stroke (TRACE): Protocol for a mixed-methods research study
Discussion: The results of the TRACE study will provide preliminary evidence for the relationship between XNJI used within 24 h of onset and the presence of END on the third day after stroke onset; it will aid in improving the current knowledge regarding the early use of XNJI for stroke first aid.Clinical Trial Registration:clinicaltrials.gov, identifier NCT04275349

Is Sodium Valproate, an HDAC inhibitor, associated with reduced risk of stroke and myocardial infarction? A nested case–control study
ConclusionSodium valproate exposure was associated with the risk of MI, but not ischemic stroke. However, longer exposure to SV was associated with lower odds of stroke, but this might be explained by survivor bias. © 2014 The Authors. Risks of newly onset hemorrhagic stroke in patients with neovascular age ‐related macular degeneration
ConclusionsPatients with nAMD had a significantly higher risk of developing stroke, which was driven mainly by the increased risk of developing the hemorrhagic subtype.

China Stroke Registry for Patients With Traditional Chinese Medicine (CASES-TCM): Rationale and Design of a Prospective, Multicenter, Observational Study
Conclusion: To our knowledge, the CASES-TCM study is the first and largest nationwide registry to document comprehensive data on TCM treatment in patients with acute stroke. The findings of this study will be valuable to improve our knowledge about TCM treatment for patients with stroke and its subsequent outcomes in the actual clinical setting, consequently facilitating and standardizing the optimization of individualized interventions with TCM for stroke prevention and treatment in China.Study registration: This study was registered with Clinicaltrials.gov (URL: https://clinicaltrials.gov/, Unique identifier: NCT04921397).

Long-term effectiveness and safety of cilostazol versus clopidogrel in secondary prevention of noncardioembolic ischemic stroke
ConclusionsThis real-world study suggests that cilostazol is effective and safe for noncardioembolic ischemic stroke and may be associated with better effectiveness in hypertensive patients compared to clopidogrel.

PPARs: A potential target for a disease-modifying strategy in stroke.
Abstract Stroke is one of the major causes of mortality and disability in adults in industrialized countries. Despite numerous preclinical studies and clinical trials in the field of cerebral ischemia, no pharmacological agent has been validated in the treatment of acute ischemic, except thrombolysis. Cerebral ischemia is not only a neuronal disease but it affects the entire neurovascular unit. The therapeutic strategy in stroke should be more global and combine preventive approaches, acute phase treatment and long-term care to improve recovery and prevent or treat affective and cognitive post-stroke consequences....

Patient preferences regarding atrial fibrillation stroke prophylaxis in patients at potential risk of atrial fibrillation
Conclusions Reducing stroke risk and limiting ICH risk were the most important medication factors to participants. High inter-participant preference variability suggests the importance of including the patient in decision-making when selecting AF stroke prophylaxis.
