Development and validation of a dementia risk score in the UK Biobank and Whitehall II cohorts
Background Current dementia risk scores have had limited success in consistently identifying at-risk individuals across different ages and geographical locations. Stroke is the largest cause of disability and the 5th leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide is the 12th leading cause of death in the United States. However, little is known about the risk of suicide among people with a prior stroke.

Risk factors for dementia in older intensive care unit (ICU) survivors
DISCUSSION: Future studies will need to examine whether interventions targeting post-ICU stroke and depression can lower dementia incidence in ICU survivors.HIGHLIGHTS: Risk factors for post-intensive care unit (ICU) dementia were distinct from those of Alzheimer's disease. Cardiovascular risk factors were not associated with dementia in older ICU survivors. Post-ICU stroke was associated with a higher risk of dementia in older ICU survivors. Lesion location and serum levels of homocysteine are associated with early ‐onset post‐stroke depression in acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsOur study indicated that higher NIHSS score, elevated serum levels of HCY, and multiple-site lesions may be independent risk factors of early-onset PSD. The combination of HCY, NIHSS scores, multiple-site lesions, and lesion location may provide greater predictive value than HCY alone for early-onset PSD. Early intervention for elevated serum levels of HCY may be a potential target for the intervention and prevention of PSD.

Pathophysiology, Assessment, and Management of Post-Stroke Cognitive Impairment, Depression, and Fatigue
We describe patient-reported outcome measures and clinician rating techniques that can be used to assist in screening and comprehensive assessment. We then discuss behavioral and pharmacologic management strategies. Heterogeneity of stroke remains a challenge in management and new research is still needed to optimize and personalize treatments for stroke survivors.

Chronic comorbid conditions and asthma exacerbation occurrence in a general population sample
In conclusion, several chronic comorbid conditions were associated with asthma exacerbation occurrence, which confirms but also complements previous studies.
