Late-onset cerebral embolism after transcatheter aortic valve implantation under direct oral anticoagulant therapy
We describe the case of a 92-year-old woman with delayed valve thrombosis causing stroke after TAVI, who developed recurrent strokes eight months after TAVI for severe aortic valve stenosis. Transesophageal echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography revealed a string-like thrombus attached to the implanted valve.

Silent Valsalva thrombus between the native Valsalva and balloon-expandable transcatheter heart valve: multicentre Japanese registry analysis.

Comparative analysis of balloon- versus mechanically-expandable transcatheter heart valves considering landing zone calcification.
CONCLUSION: Both THVs yield comparable procedural and clinical outcomes except for a higher PPI rate with the Lotus valve, which is independent from the extent of landing zone calcification. The extent of landing zone calcification is associated with an increased risk for PVL for both THV, but is significantly reduced with the Lotus valve. Conclusion: This case illustrates the value of F-18 FDG PET/CT in the diagnosis of and localization of a periaortic valve abscess in a patient with multiple valve replacements, recurrent fevers/sepsis and inconclusive imaging with transthoracic echocardiogram, transesophageal echocardiogram and Indium-111 WBC scan. Thirty-day outcomes in patients at intermediate risk for surgery from the SAPIEN 3 European approval trial.
CONCLUSIONS: TF-TAVI using the SAPIEN 3 THV in patients at intermediate risk for surgery is associated with a very low risk of death and complications, including new pacemakers and paravalvular leaks.
