Headache attributed to ischaemic stroke. An update on its semiology and diagnosis
CONCLUSION: Headache after ischemic stroke is a common symptom. It was associated with female sex, posterior circulation stroke and low scores on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). The current diagnostic criteria should be reviewed.PMID:37668234 | DOI:10.33588/rn.7706.2022402

Stroke And Cerebrovascular Risk Factors Knowledge In Patients Admitted To A Cardiovascular Ward. (P1.135)
Conclusion: Even in these selected population, with previous or current CVD, a large amount of RF and a high rate of previous medical consultations, knowledge about stroke showed to be very low indicating a poor quality of preventive measures and the need to emphasize educational interventions.Disclosure: Dr. Muñoz has nothing to disclose. Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor Related Protein-1 and 6 Gene Variants and Ischemic Stroke Risk (P6.279)
CONCLUSIONS: Based on these results, further data is needed to elucidate whether a true association between the LRP1 and 6 genes and acute ischemic stroke exists.Study Supported by: NINDS R01NS39987, R01NS42733 Disclosure: Dr. Harriott has nothing to disclose. Diagnosis of Acute Stroke.
Abstract Stroke can be categorized as ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, or subarachnoid hemorrhage. Awakening with or experiencing the abrupt onset of focal neurologic deficits is the hallmark of the diagnosis of ischemic stroke. The most common presenting symptoms of ischemic stroke are speech disturbance and weakness on one-half of the body. The most common conditions that can mimic a stroke are seizure, conversion disorder, migraine headache, and hypoglycemia. Taking a patient history and performing diagnostic studies will usually exclude stroke mimics. Neuroimaging is required to differentiate ischemi...

Stroke Knowledge in African Americans: A Narrative Review.
CONCLUSIONS: Racial disparities may exist for specific domains of stroke knowledge. Future studies should explore specific gaps in knowledge to be addressed in stroke prevention interventions for African Americans. Standardization of methods is needed to aid comparisons across populations. The relationship between stroke knowledge and clinical outcomes also needs to be evaluated. Stroke Mimics in a Stroke Care Pathway Based on MRI Screening
Conclusions: A rate of SM up to 38% of the code stroke system confirms the difficulty to distinguish clinically a stroke from another diagnosis. In this study, using cerebral MRI in first intention was of special interest in patients with acute neurological symptoms to differentiate an NVD from an SM.Cerebrovasc Dis 2016;42:205-212

Knowledge, attitude, and practice in relation to stroke: A community-based study from Kolkata, West Bengal, India
Conclusions: Persons from both SAF and non-SAF groups are aware about stroke but possess lesser knowledge about the many symptoms of stroke and risk factors, indicating the necessity of enhancement of existence knowledge on symptoms for better diagnosis and of risk factors for better prevention.

Aura and Stroke: relationship and what we have learnt from preclinical models
ConclusionPreclinical models suggest a key role for enhanced SD susceptibility and microembolization to explain both the occurrence of migraine attacks and the increased stroke risk in migraineurs. Therapeutic targeting of SD and microembolic events, or potential causes thereof, will be promising for treatment of aura and may also prevent ischemic infarction in vulnerable brains.

Migraine and Ischemic Stroke in Women. A Narrative Review.
CONCLUSION: The commonality of factors associated with MWA and with MWA-associated stroke suggest that persons with secondary, ischemia-induced aura may be at elevated risk of stroke. Although further research is needed, we recommend consideration of a diagnostic evaluation of MWA that mirrors the evaluation of transient ischemic attack, given that prophylactic treatment targeting the ischemic origin of secondary aura may prevent migraine as well as stroke. Sentinel headache as a warning symptom of ischemic stroke
ConclusionsA new type of headache and a previous kind of headache with altered characteristics during one week before stroke are significantly more prevalent than in controls. These headaches represent sentinel headaches. Sudden onset of such headaches should alarm about stroke.

Differential Risk Factors and Outcomes of Ischemic Stroke due to Cervical Artery Dissection in Young Adults
Conclusions: While history of migraine and neck manipulation are significantly associated with CeAD, most of the traditional vascular risk factors for stroke are less prevalent in this group when compared to strokes due to other etiologies. For CeAD-related strokes, higher initial stroke severity and history of tobacco use may be associated with higher stroke-related disability, but overall, patients with CeAD have similar outcomes as compared to strokes due to other etiologies.Cerebrovasc Dis
