Relation of post-stroke headachto cerebrovascular pathology and hemodynamics
In conclusion, post-stroke headache is a common phenomenon, especially in patients with pre-stroke headache, history of old stroke, posterior circulation infarction, and large artery disease. This headache was of moderate-intensity with clinical characteristics of tension-type. Intra-cranial cerebrovascular pathological changes including opening of collateral channels and variable degrees of stenosis of cerebrovascular systems were implicated in the production of that headache.PMID:35950474 | DOI:10.5114/fn.2022.116962

Use of combined hormonal contraception and stroke: A case-control study of the impact of migraine type and estrogen dose on ischemic stroke risk
CONCLUSIONS: Overall stroke risk in our cohort of CHC users was low. When CHCs are used in those with migraine, formulations containing ≤30 μg EE are preferred. Identification of Acute Stroke Using Quantified Brain Electrical Activity
ConclusionsDespite a small population and the use of a classifier without the benefit of training on a stroke population, these data suggest that a rapidly acquired, easy‐to‐use system to assess brain electrical activity at the time of evaluation of acute stroke could be a valuable adjunct to current clinical practice.

Risk Factors and Imaging Characteristics of Childhood Stroke in China
There are scarce reports of childhood stroke from China. Our objective was to describe the clinical spectrum, risk factors, and imaging characteristics of childhood stroke in China. Using a hospital discharge database, children with stroke who were first admitted from 2002 to 2011 were retrospectively enrolled. We identified 478 first admissions with childhood stroke, including 229 cases of ischemic stroke and 249 hemorrhagic stroke. Gore Takes on Abbott with New PFO Stroke Indication
W.L. Gore & Associates has received FDA approval to expand the indication of the Gore Cardioform Septal Occluder to reduce the risk of recurrent ischemic stroke in patients. The device treats patients through the closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO).

E-132 A retrospective analysis of stroke code specificity in predicting acute ischemic events
ConclusionsThis retrospective analysis of stroke codes at MGUH during a 6-month period was 29% specific in predicting AIS. This is significantly lower than what was found in previous studies. Of stroke mimics, TME was the major etiology encompassing 43.6% of cases.
