Dual Antiplatelet Therapy Duration After Multivessel Optimal Intravascular Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
CONCLUSIONS: The adoption of short DAPT duration was still low in this trial conducted after the release of the STOPDAPT-2 trial results. The 1-year incidence of cardiovascular events was not different between the shorter and longer DAPT groups, suggesting no apparent benefit of prolonged DAPT in reducing cardiovascular events even in patients who undergo multivessel PCI.PMID:37197941 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-23-0141

Rivaroxaban for Prevention of Thrombotic Events, Hospitalization, and Death in Outpatients With COVID-19: A Randomized Clinical Trial
CONCLUSIONS: The study was terminated prematurely after enrollment of 32% of planned accrual because of recruitment challenges and lower-than-expected event rate. Rivaroxaban prescribed for 35 days in nonhospitalized patients with symptomatic COVID-19 at risk for thrombosis did not appear to reduce a composite end point of venous and arterial thrombotic events, hospitalization, and death.REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov; Unique identifier: NCT04508023.PMID:37154020 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.063901

A Critical Role for ERO1 α in Arterial Thrombosis and Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that ERO1α acts as a thiol oxidase for Ca2+ signaling molecules, STIM1 and SERCA2, and enhances cytosolic Ca2+ levels, promoting platelet activation and aggregation. Our study provides evidence that ERO1α may be a potential target to reduce thrombotic events.PMID:37132383 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.122.322473

Same ‐day discharge for left atrial appendage occlusion procedure: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsThis meta-analysis of seven observational studies showed no significant difference in patient safety outcomes and post-discharge complications between same-day discharge versus HA. These findings provide a solid basis to perform a randomized control trial to eliminate any potential confounders.

Po-01-167 efficacy of botulinum toxin type a (agn-151607) for the prevention of postoperative atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery patients: atrial fibrillation and anticoagulation results from the phase 2 nova study
Oral anticoagulation reduces the risk of stroke but also increases the risk of bleeding. Prevention of post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF) could result in a lower burden of oral anticoagulation and bleeding events. AGN-151607 has been proposed to prevent POAF and its safety/efficacy was tested in a multicenter randomized trial.

Po-01-140 atrial fibrillation and septic shock: a five-year retrospective observational study of anticoagulation usage, bleeding and stroke rates
Anticoagulation (AC) for atrial fibrillation (AF) is a cornerstone of management, and the benefit of mitigating stroke risk is accompanied by an increased risk of bleeding. The risk and benefit of AC in septic shock remains unclear as this disruptive hyperinflammatory state leads to multi-organ dysfunction, which can include coagulopathies.

Po-03-190 safety and outcomes of left atrial appendage occlusion in nonagenarians
As the human lifespan continues to lengthen, so too will the incidence of atrial fibrillation and the need for anticoagulation for stroke prevention. However, many of these patients that require anticoagulation are also at high risk of bleeding making left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) an attractive option. Studies on the procedural risks in the very elderly are limited and the safety of LAAO in nonagenarians is lacking.

Vascular access for Transcatheter aortic valve replacement: A network Meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: In patients who underwent TF, Tsc, TC, or Tcav TAVR, Tsc had a higher rate of stroke compared to TF and Tcav, and major or life-threatening bleeding compared to TF. The rate of major vascular complications in Tcav was the highest among the four approaches.PMID:37116649 | DOI:10.1016/j.jjcc.2023.04.015

Safety of Antiplatelet Pretreatment in Non-ST-segment Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome
Objectives: To determine the incidence of bleeding in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NST-ACS) after antiplatelet pretreatment. To determine the percentages of patients diagnosed with acute aortic syndrome, pulmonary embolism, or stroke after pretreatment for initially misdiagnosed NST-ACS. To analyse delays in coronary-artery bypass grafts (CABG) in rela...

Safety and Efficacy of Ticagrelor versus Clopidogrel in East Asian Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Treated with Dual Antiplatelet Therapy: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Conclusion: Ticagrelor increased the risk of bleeding and did not increase treatment efficacy compared to that of clopidogrel in the East Asian population who have ACS treated with PCI.
