Protective effect of phytoestrogens on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in postmenopausal women
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a progressive metabolic disease characterized by hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis that seriously endangers global public health. Epidemiological studies have shown that the incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in postmenopausal women has significantly increased. Studies have shown that estrogen deficiency is the main reason for this situation, and supplementing estrogen has become a new direction for preventing the occurrence of postmenopausal fatty liver. However, although classical estrogen replacement therapy can reduce the incidence of postmenopausal N...

Fast Heartburn Relief Without Deadly Drugs
Since gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) was first identified in the early 1930s, the number of people experiencing heartburn has increased substantially. In fact, one study shows that in just 10 years, the number of people experiencing:1 Any GERD symptoms increased by 30% Symptoms at least once a week increased by 47% Severe GERD increased by 24% While these numbers are concerning, I’ll admit they’re not surprising considering the typical American diet. Alcohol Consumption and Cerebral Small- and Large-Vessel Diseases: A Mendelian Randomization Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest a positive association of alcohol consumption with risk of cerebral SVDs and its inverse association with risk of large-vessel disease through intermediaries, such as hypertension or low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. These findings provide insight into potential causal mechanisms linking alcohol consumption with stroke risk.PMID:37612092 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64222

State-of-the-Art Review: Alcohol Septal Ablation in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
The objective of this review is to provide the reader with a synopsis of percutaneous alcohol septal ablation (ASA) as an effective and time-honored treatment modality in patients with symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).Recent findingsPatients who have medically refractory symptoms of dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction may benefit from septal reduction therapy including septal myectomy or ASA. ASA involves infusion of alcohol into an epicardial septal artery supplying the basal septum to generate an iatrogenic infarction and, thus, reduce outflow tract obstruction due to targeted hypo...
