High Mean Platelet Volume Is Associated with Cerebral White Matter Hyperintensities in Non-Stroke Individuals
CONCLUSION: We found that high MPV level is independently associated with cerebral WMH. This result suggests that platelet activation plays a role in the development of cerebral WMH.PMID:36579377 | PMC:PMC9826963 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.0368

Relationship between Serum Irisin Levels and MRI-Measured Cerebral Small Vessel Disease in Japanese Men
CONCLUSIONS: Serum irisin levels were associated with less burden of total CSVD in healthy Japanese men. Serum irisin levels were also related with a reduced risk of PVHs, LIs, and CMBs, but not DSWMHs.PMID:36384910 | DOI:10.5551/jat.63824

Propensity of Stroke in Standard versus Various Aortic Arch Variants: A 200 Patients Study
CONCLUSIONS: Standard aortic arch Type 2, bovine aortic arch Type A, and Type B are associated with an early age at stroke presentation. During routine carotid evaluation by CT or MR angiography in stroke patients, it would be better to evaluate the aortic arch as well, especially in young patients.PMID:36211155 | PMC:PMC9540953 | DOI:10.4103/aian.aian_710_21

Dual arterial thrombosis: A diagnostic enigma
Shasthara Paneyala, SC Nemichandra, Harsha Sundaramurthy, K Vimala Christina ColacoAnnals of African Medicine 2022 21(3):291-295 Cold agglutinin disease is a rare cause of arterial thrombosis leading to stroke, commonly encountered against a background of mycoplasma pneumonia infections. A 22-year-old patient presented with acute-onset left hemiplegia preceded by a short history of fever and cough. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a right middle cerebral artery infarct. Serially repeated hemoglobin levels showed a progressive drop and peripheral smear showed evidence of hemolysis. Blood drawn for investigations wou...

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis following Russell's viper (Daboia russelii) envenomation: A case report and review of the literature
We report a previously healthy middle-aged Indian female who developed cerebral venous sinus thrombosis preceded by features of disseminated bleeding diathesis following Russell's viper bite. The cerebral venous sinus thrombosis was diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging. The patient responded well to treatment with antivenom and subcutaneous enoxaparin and had no demonstrable neurological deficits at three months of follow-up.PMID:36041514 | DOI:10.1016/j.toxicon.2022.08.014
