Tirofiban in the treatment of cancer-associated ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Early administration of tirofiban in the treatment of mild to moderate ischemic stroke is safe, which can reduce 24-hour and 7-day NIHSS scores and has potential value.PMID:37140310 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_32142

Design of Disintegrable Nanoassemblies to Release Multiple Small-Sized Nanoparticles
Adv Drug Deliv Rev. 2023 Apr 27:114854. doi: 10.1016/j.addr.2023.114854. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe therapeutic and diagnostic effects of nanoparticles depend on the efficiency of their delivery to targeted tissues, such as tumors. The size of nanoparticles, among other characteristics, plays a crucial role in determining their tissue penetration and retention. Small nanoparticles may penetrate deeper into tumor parenchyma but are poorly retained, whereas large ones are distributed around tumor blood vessels. Thus, compared to smaller individual nanoparticles, assemblies of such nanoparticles due to their larger siz...

New paradigms in purinergic receptor ligand discovery
Neuropharmacology. 2023 Mar 13:109503. doi: 10.1016/j.neuropharm.2023.109503. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe discovery and clinical implementation of modulators of adenosine, P2Y and P2X receptors have progressed dramatically in ∼50 years since Burnstock's definition of purinergic signaling. Although most clinical trials of selective ligands (agonists and antagonists) of these nineteen receptors failed, there is a renewed impetus to redirect efforts to new disease conditions and the discovery of more selective or targeted compounds with potentially reduced side effects, such as biased GPCR agonists. The elucidation of...

Continuous ingestion of sodium chloride solution promotes allergen absorption and may exacerbate allergy symptoms on ovalbumin-induced food allergy in mice
In this study, we investigated the effect of continuous ingestion of sodium chloride (NaCl) on allergy symptoms using a mouse model of food allergy. BALB/c mice were divided into four groups of 6-8 animals each. The control-water group (CW) and sensitization-water group (SW) groups were provided free access to water, and the control-1% NaCl group (CS) and sensitization-1% NaCl group (SS) groups were provided a 1% NaCl solution. The SW and SS groups were sensitized with 50 µg ovalbumin (OVA) at 2 timepoints by intraperitoneal injection. After oral administration of OVA, anaphylactic response was measured and blood was coll...

Exploring the potential mechanism of Fritiliariae Irrhosae Bulbus on ischemic stroke based on network pharmacology and experimental validation
Conclusion: Based on network pharmacology, the effect of FIB in the treatment of ischemic strokes was discussed through the multi-component-multi-target-multi-pathway. The therapeutic effect and potential mechanisms of FIB on ischemic strokes were preliminarily explored, which provided a ground work for further researches on the pharmacodynamic material basis, mechanism of action and clinical application.
