Worldwide vaccine inequality threatens to unleash the next COVID-19 variant
On a warm South African day in mid-November 2021, Dr. Angelique Coetzee examined a 29-year-old man complaining of extreme fatigue and severe headaches. The symptoms seemed more consistent with heat stroke than the sore throat and fever she had noticed in her patients with COVID-19. At the end of the day, after seeing several similar cases test positive for COVID-19, Dr. Coetzee, chair of the South African Medical Association, became convinced that something was amiss. Within a week, investigators determined that her patients were infected with a new variant possessing multiple mutations (McKeever,  2021), B.1.1.529 BA.1 or “Omicron”.

Cerebral venous thrombosis after COVID-19 vaccination: the role for endovascular treatment
Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a unique cause of stroke. Population-based studies demonstrate an incidence of clinically significant CVT of 1.3–1.5 per 100 000 per year.1 2 This may be an underestimated incidence, as these studies were not based on review of imaging and the often benign nature of this entity may lead to underdiagnoses. Vaccine-related retinal artery occlusion in adults: a review of the current literature
First of all, I am pleased to have an opportunity to discuss our recently published review on vaccine-related retinal artery occlusion (RAO) in adults.1 Publication and reporting bias are well known in medical research,2 and time lag bias is unavoidable in major public healthcare event as if COVID-19 vaccination.3 Our review clearly listed out the literature search methods on search engine and database used (MEDLINE and PubMed), keywords and MeSH terms applied (vaccine retinal artery occlusion), as well as the date of the search (10th January 2022).

Carotid free-floating thrombus during COVID-19 vaccine era: causality or not?
AbstractCarotid free-floating thrombus (FFT) is very rarely diagnosed in patients with acute ischemic stroke. It is a real clinical emergency due to the significant risk of death associated with thromboembolic complications. Herein, we present three patients with ischemic stroke caused by carotid FFT after less than 20  days from administration of mRNA vaccine BNT162b1 (Pfizer/BioNTech) for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome—CoronaVirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). To our knowledge, these are the first cases reporting carotid FTT following SARS-CoV-2 vaccination.

AstraZeneca COVID ‐19 vaccine: A possible risk factor for ischemic stroke and cerebral venous sagittal sinus thrombosis: A case series
AbstractOne of the most prevalent neurological impairments is cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Ischemic stroke and CVST have been linked to the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Three Sudanese patients developed these diseases after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, indicating a relationship between the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and these conditions.

Risk of serious adverse events after the BNT162b2, CoronaVac, and ChAdOx1 vaccines in Malaysia: A self-controlled case series study
CONCLUSION: This study shows acceptable safety profiles of COVID-19 vaccines among recipients of BNT162b2, CoronaVac, and ChAdOx1 vaccines. This information can be used together with effectiveness data for risk-benefit analysis of the vaccination program.
