Symptomatic Isolated mesenteric artery dissection (IMAD): Insights from a conservative approach
Symptomatic isolated mesenteric artery dissection (IMAD) is a rare vascular disease. Therefore, data on its natural history are scarce. Treatment strategies on whether to stent symptomatic IMAD remain controversial, with recent observational reports advocating an aggressive approach, with a low threshold to stenting. In this issue, Abdallah et al1 provided alternative insights from a French Intestinal Stroke Centre, which adopts a conservative treatment algorithm for symptomatic IMAD.

Effects of healthcare system transformations spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic on management of stroke and STEMI: a registry-based cohort study in France
Conclusions The pandemic did not markedly alter the functioning of the emergency network. Although stroke patient management deteriorated, the resilience of the STEMI pathway was linked to its stronger structuring. Transversal reorganisations, aiming at concentrating resources on emergency care, contributed to maintenance of the quality of care. Trial registration number NCT04979208.

Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair following surgical valve repair with ring implantation: Results from the multicentre "Clip-in-Ring" registry
CONCLUSIONS: TEER in patients with failed mitral ring is feasible and safe. Further studies shoulddelineate its exact role in the therapeutic armamentarium for this medical issue.PMID:36115768 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2022.05.009

Effect of angioplasty and stent placement on sensorineural hearing loss and pulsatile tinnitus in a patient with severe internal carotid artery stenosis
Pulsatile tinnitus occurs due to turbulent blood flow through a stenotic vessel including the internal carotid artery. The presence of sensorineural hearing loss suggests involvement of the posterior circulation vasculature.

Mortality and Morbidity Effects of Long-Term Exposure to Low-Level PM < sub > 2.5 < /sub > , BC, NO < sub > 2 < /sub > , and O < sub > 3 < /sub > : An Analysis of European Cohorts in the ELAPSE Project
CONCLUSIONS: Long-term exposure to PM2.5, NO2, and BC was positively associated with natural-cause and cause-specific mortality in the pooled cohort and the administrative cohorts. Associations were found well below current limit values and guidelines for PM2.5 and NO2. Associations tended to be supralinear, with steeper slopes at low exposures with no indication of a threshold. Two-pollutant models documented the importance of characterizing the ambient mixture with both NO2 and PM2.5. We mostly found negative associations with O3. In two-pollutant models with NO2, the negative associations with O3 were attenuated to esse...

Acute Isolated Mesenteric Artery Dissection: Four-Year Experience from a French Intestinal Stroke Center
CONCLUSION: Although IMAD was associated with a high frequency of AMI, a standardized protocol allowed a low rate of intestinal resection. In types I/II patients, a conservative therapy seems appropriate whereas in type III patients, urgent SMA revascularization should aim to avoid intestinal resection or death..PMID:36075544 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2022.08.032

P64 NIMBUS geometric clot extractor for tough clots: SPERO study results and clot composition
ConclusionsIn challenging cases with tough clot, first pass of NIMBUS retrieved clot richer in fibrin and lower in RBC content than clot retrieved with the first pass of standard MT devices.ReferencesFennell VS, Setlur Nagesh SV, Meess KM, Gutierrez L, James RH, Springer ME, Siddiqui AH. Apixaban versus other anticoagulants in patients with nonvalvular fibrillation: a comparison of all-cause and event-related costs in real-life setting in France
ConclusionsHCRU and most event-related costs were lower in patients initiating apixaban compared to other OACs. Apixaban may be cost-saving compared to VKAs, and significantly cheaper than other DOACs, although cost differences are limited.
