Risk of acute stroke in patients with retinal artery occlusion: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The meta-analysis demonstrated that people with RAO are significantly more likely to get an acute stroke than patients without RAO. In addition, patients with RAO are substantially more likely than those without RAO to develop an acute stroke following an occlusion episode, especially if they are under 75 years old. However, given that only a small number of the studies in our review did not show a clear correlation between the two, we believe more research is required to conclusively link RAO and the prevalence of acute stroke.PMID:37401301 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32803

Very long-term outcomes after acute myocardial infarction in young men and women: Insights from the FAST-MI program
CONCLUSIONS: Young women with AMI undergo less cardiac interventions and are less often prescribed secondary prevention treatment than men, even when significant coronary artery disease is present, but keep a similar long-term prognosis after AMI. Optimal management of these young patients, regardless of gender, is necessary to ensure best outcomes after this major cardiovascular event.PMID:37391340 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2023.05.006

More Than 50 Percent Reduction in LDL Cholesterol in Patients With Target LDL & lt;70 mg/dL After a Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: In this post hoc analysis of the TST trial, targeting an LDL cholesterol of <70 mg/dL reduced the risk of primary outcome compared with 100±10 mg/dL provided LDL cholesterol reduction from baseline was superior to 50%, thereby suggesting that the magnitude of LDL cholesterol reduction was as important to consider as the target level to achieve.REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov; Unique identifier: NCT01252875; https://clinicaltrialsregister.eu; Unique identifier: EUDRACT2009-A01280-57.PMID:37376989 | DOI:10.1161/STROKEAHA.123.042621

Carotid artery stenting using a 7 French Optimo balloon guide catheter combined with a distal filter
CONCLUSIONS: The 7 F Optimo is the smallest BGC to achieve CAS using a proximal protection system. The combined use of a 7 F Optimo BGC and a distal filter is effective for navigating the BGC and distal embolic protection.PMID:37322893 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231162493
