Validity of Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Gastric Cancer Diagnosed as Differentiated Adenocarcinoma Before Treatment Regardless of Lesion Size
CONCLUSION: Even with a tumor diameter ≥31 mm, curative resection was achieved in about 60% of cases in which intramucosal lesions were considered possible preoperatively, but the rate was low at 8.3% for tumor diameter ≥101 mm. Long-term outcomes appear favorable, with only 0.4% of the patients dying of disease but delayed gastric emptying observed in 1.7% of cases.PMID:37681270 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2023.22611

Clinicopathologic study of stage I adenosquamous carcinoma of the lung
CONCLUSIONS: Early-stage adenosquamous carcinoma of the lung is a histological type associated with severe prognosis and postoperative recurrence, often in distant sites, in approximately one-third of cases. High serum carcinoembryonic antigen levels and vascular invasion might be risk factors of recurrence.PMID:37681230 | DOI:10.1093/jjco/hyad122

Construction of RNA Methylation Modification-immune-related lncRNA Molecular Subtypes and Prognostic Scoring System in Lung Adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSION: The RMM-I molecular subtype constituted the novel molecular characteristic subtype of LUAD, which complemented the existing pathological typing. More refined and accurate molecular subtypes provide help to reveal the mechanism of LUAD development. In addition, the RMM-I score offers a reliable tool for accurate prognosis of LUAD.PMID:37680151 | DOI:10.2174/0929867331666230901110629

Spinal metastases from non-small cell lung cancer - Is surgical extent enough by following suggestions of the Tomita and Tokuhashi scores?
CONCLUSION: Patients with spinal metastases from lung cancer had better prognosis than that predicted by the Tomita and Tokuhashi scores. Spine surgeons should acknowledge this discrepancy and treat these patients with at least the aggressiveness suggested. Patients with adenocarcinoma, amenable to target therapy, denosumab, good general condition, systemic treatment-naïve are better candidates for surgery. Those with cachexic status and unresectable visceral metastases are worse candidates.PMID:37684123 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.08.179

Cancer Stem Cells of Esophageal Adenocarcinoma are Suppressed by Inhibitors of TRPV2 and SLC12A2
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the present results, TRPV2 and SLC12A2 are involved in the maintenance of CSCs, and their specific inhibitors, tranilast and furosemide, respectively, have potential as targeted therapeutic agents for EAC.PMID:37684371 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14247-z

Disfunction of communication among immune cells in minimal-deviation adenocarcinoma of the cervix as an immunotherapeutic opportunity
In this study, we conducted single-cell transcriptomic analyses of MDA samples (Ca) and adjacent normal tissues (PCa). The present study reveals the prevalence of dendritic cells (DCs) and T cells in the carcinoma (Ca) of mammary ductal adenocarcinoma (MDA), with DCs undergoing significant metabolic reprogramming and immune stress. Additionally, our findings demonstrate the crucial involvement of DCs and T cells in the pathogenesis and metastatic progression of MDA, as evidenced by single-cell transcriptomic profiling of MDA and HPV samples. This resource provides a more profound understanding of the indolent nature of MDA...

Novel ALK immunohistochemistry assay (clone OTI1A4, Dako) is a sensitive, reliable marker for identifying ALK rearrangements in lung adenocarcinomas : A validation study
CONCLUSIONS: Immunohistochemistry-based assays provide a valid and reasonably priced alternative, especially in settings where molecular confirmatory tests are neither offered nor accessible. Given high interassay and molecular concordance, we propose that the novel Dako OTI1A4 assay can be reliably used to identify cases with ALK rearrangement.PMID:37681660 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqad111

68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT in a Case of Isolated Parietal Peritoneal Metastasis From Prostate Adenocarcinoma
We present 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT findings in a case of isolated parietal peritoneal metastasis from prostate adenocarcinoma 35 months after radical prostatectomy. The peritoneal metastases showed multifocal intense PSMA uptake, but subtle structural abnormalities on 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT. The patient was subsequently treated with androgen deprivation therapy. The peritoneal metastases progressed 25 months after the initiation of androgen deprivation therapy and were removed surgically. Histologic and immunohistochemical evaluation revealed metastatic prostate adenocarcinoma with treatment-related neuroendocrine differentiation...
