Electroacupuncture at Zusanli ameliorates the autistic-like behaviors of rats through activating the Nrf2-mediated antioxidant responses
CONCLUSION: These data suggested that electroacupuncture at ST36 protected nerve function in ASD rats through Nrf2 activation and the antioxidant response.PMID:35339642 | DOI:10.1016/j.gene.2022.146440

The Angiogenesis Effects Of Electro-acupuncture Treatment Via Exosomal miR-210 In Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Rats
CONCLUSION: EA treatment could active the HIF-1α/VEGF/Notch 1 signal pathway to facilitate angiogenesis after ischemic stroke via exosomal miR-210.PMID:35319370 | DOI:10.2174/1567202619666220321115412

Adiponectin regulates electroacupuncture-produced analgesic effects in association with a crosstalk between the peripheral circulation and the spinal cord
In conclusion, the study indicates a novel mechanism that acupuncture produces analgesic effects at least partially via APN/AdipoR2-AMPK pathway in the spinal cord.PMID:34562596 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbi.2021.09.010

Effects of low- and high-frequency electroacupuncture on protein expression and distribution of TRPV1 and P2X3 in rats with peripheral nerve injury
CONCLUSION: 2- and 100-Hz EA similarly induced analgesic effects in SNI. This effect was related to up-regulation and down-regulation, respectively, of cytosol protein expression of P2X3 and TRPV1 in L4-L6 DRG, with 2 Hz having a better effect than 100 Hz.PMID:33334124 | DOI:10.1177/0964528420968845

Acupuncture Inhibits the Increase in Alpha-Synuclein by Modulating SGK1 in an MPTP Induced Parkinsonism Mouse Model.
Abstract Parkinson's disease (PD), a progressive neurodegenerative disease, is caused by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra (SN). It is characterized by the formation of intracytoplasmic Lewy bodies that are primarily composed of the protein alpha-synuclein ( α -syn) along with dystrophic neurites. Acupuncture stimulation results in an enhanced survival of dopaminergic neurons in the SN in parkinsonism animal models. We investigated the role of acupuncture in inhibiting the increase in α -syn expression that is related with dopaminergic cell loss in the SN in a chronic 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2...

Electro-acupuncture-induced neuroprotection is associated with activation of the IGF-1/PI3K/Akt pathway following adjacent dorsal root ganglionectomies in rats.
In conclusion, the results of the present study demonstrated the crucial roles of IGF‑1 in EA‑induced neuroplasticity following adjacent dorsal root ganglionectomies in rats via the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. PMID: 30569108 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Acupuncture inhibits TXNIP-associated oxidative stress and inflammation to attenuate cognitive impairment in vascular dementia rats.
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, our study suggests that the neuroprotective effects of acupuncture in VD are mediated through reducing expression of TXNIP-associated oxidative stress and inflammation. PMID: 29110407 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
