Apigenin Alleviates Oxidative Stress-Induced Cellular Senescence via Modulation of the SIRT1-NADFormula: see text-CD38 Axis
In this study, we selected the hydrogen peroxide (H2O[Formula: see text]- or doxorubicin (DOXO)-induced senescence model in WI-38 human embryonic lung fibroblast cells to determine the potential anti-aging effects of apigenin in vitro and associated molecular mechanisms. We found that apigenin reduced senescence-associated [Formula: see text]-galactosidase (SA-[Formula: see text]-gal) activity and promoted cell growth, concomitant with a decrease in levels of Acetyl (ac)-p53, p21[Formula: see text], and p16[Formula: see text] and an increase in phospho (p)-Rb. Apigenin also increased the activation ratio of silent informat...

Isorhynchophylline Relieves Ferroptosis-Induced Nerve Damage after Intracerebral Hemorrhage Via miR-122-5p/TP53/SLC7A11 Pathway
In this study, mouse hippocampal HT-22 cells were treated with ferric ammonium citrate (FAC) alone or together with IRN, and we found IRN reduced the FAC-induced cell damage. Then, cells were treated with IRN following treatment with FAC after transfection with miR-122-5p inhibitor, and the results showed IRN reduced the FAC-induced decrease of miR-122-5p levels and relieved the ferroptosis by detecting ferroptotic marker proteins, iron ion concentration and oxidative stress level; after transfection with miR-122-5p inhibitor, the protective effects of IRN against FAC-induced ferroptosis in these cells were weakened. TP53 ...

Tetrahydroxystilbene glycoside improves endothelial dysfunction and hypertension in obese rats: the role of omentin-1
CONCLUSIONS: Down-regulation of omentin-1 induces endothelial dysfunction and hypertension in obesity. TSG treatment (at least partially) increases omentin-1 via promoting binding of PPAR-γ and Itln-1 promoter in adipose tissues, subsequently exerts protective effects on endothelial function via activating Akt/eNOS/NO signaling and attenuating oxidative/nitrative stress. These results suggest that TSG could be developed as a promising anti-hypertension agent that protects against endothelial dysfunction and obesity-associated cardiovascular diseases.PMID:33647262 | DOI:10.1016/j.bcp.2021.114489

Glycyrrhetinic Acid Protects Renal Tubular Cells against Oxidative Injury via Reciprocal Regulation of JNK-Connexin 43-Thioredoxin 1 Signaling
Conclusion: ROS-JNK-Cx43-thioredoxin 1 signaling plays a crucial role in renal tubular cell injury. JNK is involved in the regulation of thioredoxin 1 and Cx43, and Cx43 reciprocally regulates thioredoxin 1. Inhibition of gap junctions by Ga alleviated renal tubular oxidative injury via improvement of thioredoxin 1-mediated redox signaling.
