Tumor Necrosis Factor-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) Promotes Angiogenesis and Ischemia-Induced Neovascularization Via NADPH Oxidase 4 (NOX4) and Nitric Oxide-Dependent Mechanisms Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions This is the first report demonstrating that TRAIL can promote angiogenesis following hindlimb ischemia in vivo. The angiogenic effect of TRAIL on human microvascular endothelial cell-1 cells is downstream of fibroblast growth factor-2, involving NOX4 and nitric oxide signaling. These data have significant therapeutic implications, such that TRAIL may improve the angiogenic response to ischemia and increase perfusion recovery in patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

A metabolite of Danshen formulae attenuates cardiac fibrosis induced by isoprenaline, via a NOX2/ROS/p38 pathway
Conclusions and ImplicationsIDHP attenuated the cardiac fibrosis induced by isoprenaline through a NOX2/ROS/p38 pathway. These novel findings suggest that IDHP is a potential pharmacological candidate for the treatment of cardiac fibrosis, induced by β‐adrenoceptor agonists.

Development of Lipoprotein(a) siRNAs for Mechanism of Action Studies in Non-Human Primate Models of Atherosclerosis
We describe targeting of LPA using lipid nanoparticle formulated short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) in lean rhesus macaque monkeys. We show >90 % LPA mRNA lowering in the liver and >95 % Lp(a) plasma reduction for over 3 weeks after a single siRNA dose. Given the potency of LPA siRNAs, siRNA approach may enable chronic reduction of Lp(a) in atherosclerotic NHP and help to unmask the role for Lp(a) in the genesis and progression of atherosclerosis in man.

Loss of Function in Heparan Sulfate Elongation Genes EXT1 and EXT 2 Results in Improved Nitric Oxide Bioavailability and Endothelial Function Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions Our data implicate that heparan sulfate elongation genes EXT1 and EXT2 are involved in maintaining endothelial homeostasis, presumably via increased nitric oxide bioavailability.

miRNA, Inflammation and Coronary Heart Disease
This study demonstrates the relationship between miR-21 and the STAT3 pathway in Coronary Heart Disease. Delivering inhibitory miRNA into cardiomyocytes was key to establishing this relationship. Further study could enable discovery of STAT3 related targets for CV protective drug. In the spirit of helping researchers find the best solutions and protocols for Gene Expression Analysis Studies, we will continue to post new findings.

Far-infrared radiation acutely increases nitric oxide production by increasing Ca(2+) mobilization and Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II-mediated phosphorylation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase at serine 1179.
This study suggests that FIR radiation increases NO production via increasing CaMKII-mediated eNOS-Ser(1179) phosphorylation but TRPV channels may not be involved in this pathway.
